Position PurposeThe role provides service to customers, sorting incoming product and assists in the ongoing retail operations of The Salvation Army Thrift Store.ResponsibilitiesGreet and interact with customers/donors in a positive, friendly, and courteous manner; contribute to meeting store sales targets.Provide efficient customer service, including accurate handling of cash, debit, cheques, credit cards, refunds, voids, and holds.Process raw materials by loading, unloading, sorting, packing, hanging, pricing, and storing donations; maintain accurateproduct pricing and store inventory.Maintain store opening and closing procedures; monitor store security and activity; assist with storelayout and display to enhance customer attraction.Contribute to health and safety by clearing obstacles, maintaining safe conditions, cleaning and sweeping, and following OH&S Act regulations.Working ConditionsThis is a permanent part‑time position with variable weekly schedule, including weekdays and Saturdays. The role requires standing for long periods, frequent twisting, bending, crouching, reaching,



and lifting up to 30 lb.QualificationsHigh school education or equivalent experience; alternative combinations of education and experience considered.Minimum of a few months of customer service or goods processing experience, with cash handling experience required.Experience with cash registers, bank deposits, and summary reports.Knowledge of lifting guidelines and ability to handle up to 29 lb independently.Strong attention to detail, self‑motivated, disciplined, and good interpersonal communication skills.Ability to pass applicable screening and background checks.Willingly support the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.Compensation and BenefitsSalary range: $18.25 to $21.74 per hour, with a maximum of $25.23 based on factors such as market conditions and experience.
