Role Description The Appliance Technician is a contract, in office role based in Halifax, NS. The technician will travel to customer homes to diagnose and repair major household appliances, using appropriate tools, test equipment, and manufacturer documentation. Day-to-day responsibilities include inspecting units, identifying faults, ordering and installing parts, performing functional tests, and documenting all work performed.
The technician will communicate clearly with customers about findings, repair options, timelines, and costs, while following company procedures and safety standards. This role also involves maintaining a clean work environment,
managing parts and inventory, and supporting same-day or urgent service requests.
Qualifications
- Applied technical skills in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining major home appliances (washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens, stoves, microwaves).
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, including safe use of hand and power tools, test meters, and standard diagnostic equipment.
- Customer service and communication skills to explain issues and solutions clearly, manage expectations, and provide professional in-home service.
- Organizational skills for scheduling, documenting service visits, managing parts orders, and meeting response-time commitments.
- Ability to work independently in the field, prioritize multiple service calls, and follow safety and quality standards consistently.
- Relevant trade certification, apprenticeship, or equivalent on-the-job experience in appliance repair or a closely related field.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to work across Halifax and surrounding service areas.
- Physical ability to lift and move appliances safely and to work in a variety of residential environments.
