The Applications
Engineer is a key member of the sales team, responsible for developing proposals and supporting the Sales Account Managers. Key directives include maintaining and servicing specific customer accounts and responding to requests for quotations in a timely and efficient manner, while delivering the Eclipse Vision and the Eclipse Entrepreneurial Culture. Participate in customer RFQ review meetings, either on-site at the customer or in-house Liaise between mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and assembly manufacturing groups for technical assistance in developing concepts and processes and provide assistance in estimating labor and material costs to meet customer requirements Liaise with suppliers to obtain estimates of major material and equipment costs required for the preparation of budgets and proposals Participate in the elaboration of the list and schedule of technical deliverables for the complete project as well as the corresponding list of interfaces Write technical specifications Technical follow-up during engineering,
procurement & construction Identify technical risks and their impact on the project & mitigate their effects Provide proactive customer design support for vertically integrated components and complex electro-mechanical assemblies Work to specific project budgets and timelines provided by Applications Manager Prepare draft budget and quotation proposals for review with the Applications Supervisor, the Sales Manager and Key Account Managers Assist with conflict resolution at early stages Promote positive relations with internal customers, partners, customers, vendors, and distributors Attend appropriate meetings when required (Opportunity Review & Short Term Bookings) Represent the company at various community and/or business meetings to promote the company Complete other duties and projects as assigned Expectation of travel up to 30% of time could be anticipated, however may be exceeded in exceptional circumstances to meet project needs 5+ years of experience in an applications engineering capacity ~ Experience with projects within the life sciences industry is an asset ~ University Degree or College Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics ~ Must have excellent experience with AutoCAD and Solid Works and be familiar with MS Office ~ Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical controls and integration of equipment ~ Ability to motivate teams to produce quality proposals within tight timeframes, with changing priorities ~ Conflict resolution skills are and asset ~ 3 weeks of vacation and 3 paid personal days (to start) ~ Fast-paced and continuously fostering growth, we encourage the entrepreneurial spirit that our teams embody, and leverage each of their strengths to do better for our people, our clients, and our communities.
