With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.Role descriptionThe primary focus is Traffic Signal and/or Roadway Lighting design for transportation facilities and the successful candidate will work with technical staff to prepare preliminary, and detailed traffic/intersection design drawings, estimates, specifications, and proposals. You will also assist in preparing reports as to the nature, status and results of design or study assignments.Role accountabilitiesThe successful candidate will contribute to the successful design, production, coordination and management of Roadway Illumination and Traffic Signal projects.You will coordinate with Utility and Roadway agencies on technical fronts in terms of developing traffic signal/intersection and roadway illumination designs in AutoCAD and/or Microstation, including layout, equipment details, and photometrics.As may be separately directed by other Electrical Engineers/Managers, you may assist in developing deliverables such as wiring diagrams, power calculations, and Electrical Engineering designs compliant with ESA codes or relevant acts/standards.Under this capacity, you will also render utility coordination duties as they relate to roadway illumination and traffic signal projects, including the preparation of technical reports, tender documentation and field support (including commissioning, traffic signal turn-on, and site inspection).This person will verify or validate that Engineering deliverables (e.G., drawings, specifications,
analysis, budget estimates) comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures and sound engineering practices, review drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and project documentation in accordance with QA/QC programs and ensure that project deliverables are met in a timely manner to a high quality including engineering stamped drawings and preparing final reports.Qualifications & ExperienceCompleted Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Traffic/Civil Engineering3+ years relevant experience in intersection/traffic signal design, ideally in a design-consulting or utility environmentMust have or be eligible for the P. Eng. designation in OntarioMust be proficient with AutoCAD and MicrostationProficient with AGI 32Working knowledge of Ontario Traffic Manuals (Book 12, 15, 5, & 7), Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), Highway Traffic Act (HTA), Ontario Traffic Manuals (OTM), RP-8 (latest version) Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices Canada (MUTCDC), and Technical Manuals published by the Transportation Association of CanadaExperience with O.Reg 22/04 certification and liaising with utility authoritiesExperience with pole loading software i.E. SPIDAcalc or equivalent is an assetExperience performing site inspections, construction supervision and contract administrationMTO Major Electrical RAQS qualified is an assetExperience working in a multi-disciplinary team delivering various complex projects with large size and scopeExperience working on MTO Roadway Lighting projectsThe salary range for this position is $71,000 - $106,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position.
