Position
Rundle is seeking Building Attendants to join our team. These hourly, on-call employees will be added to our roster to work as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Open and/or close the school, operate alarm systems, and perform regular security rounds of school grounds;
- Act as onsite contact for evening visitors and user groups, and assist as needed;
- Perform pre/post checks,regular monitoring rounds, and after hours reports of evening rental spaces and users at the Academy Campus
- Prepare and set up rooms for meetings, events, or various other activities and clean up after the event;
- Perform daily cleaning routines and seasonal cleaning tasks;
- Respond to any emergency cleanup and facility demands during shift
- Complete minor maintenance duties and respond to staff requests for assistance;
- Identify safety risks in the school and take immediate action as required;
- Snow removal and application of ice melt in the winter;
- Coverage of other shift times and locations may be requested on occasion;
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal and the Manager of Facilities
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills
- Highly motivated and able to work independently.
- Comfortable working with various technologies, inclusive of smartphones and tablets.
- Work with tools and have basic knowledge in building repair, chemical cleaners, and electrical and plumbing operations.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing.
- Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
- Ability to perform small repairs and equipment maintenance.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft computer software (e.g. Excel, Word, etc.) and email.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Experience
- One (1) year of previous custodial/janitorial experience.
- Minimum two (2) years' experience in the operation and maintenance of buildings.
Education
- Submission of police information check and vulnerable sector check.
- First Aid certification.
- Occupational Health and Safety training (e.g., WHMIS, fire safety, fall protection).
- Class 5 Driver’s licence considered an asset.
