Competition: ILT–26-27-016– Occupational Therapy Assistant (REHAB)St. Albert Public Schools is currently recruiting aPart Time, Probationary, Occupational Therapy Assistant (REHAB)for a work assignment with ourInclusive Learning Team .More than 9000 students are enrolled in St. Albert Public Schools. From Preschool to Grade 12, our students learn and succeed in programs that are recognized for excellence and their focus on citizenship and sound values.Hours of Work:12.0hrs/week; (2 days 6.0 hrs./day); Part Time, ProbationaryHourly Rate:$28.32 per hour, as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.The Occupational Therapy Assistant works collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support student participation, independence and success within educational environments by implementing programs under the supervision of a registered Occupational Therapists. This role is integral in promoting student success through targeted interventions, collaborative planning, and comprehensive documentation.Key ResponsibilitiesImplement high-quality, evidence-based interventions to students, under the supervision and guidance of the Occupational TherapistSupport students in developing fine motor, self-regulation, sensory processing, visual-motor and functional skills for the educational environmentFacilitate individual, small-group and large group interventions under the direction of the OTWork collaboratively with ILT consultants and therapy assistants, teachers,
educational assistants, administrators and families to support student successCommunicate regularly with the supervising OT regarding student progress, concerns and emerging needsMonitor and document student responses to interventions and maintain accurate data and recordsAssist with the preparation, organization, and maintenance of therapy materials and equipmentDemonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to changing student and school needsSpecific Needs/Requirements for this positionOccupational Therapy Assistant Diploma or enrolled and actively working towards completion of diplomaExperience working with children with complex fine/gross motor needsExperience with providing social, emotional, and behavioral supports is preferredExperience working within a transdisciplinary team and team-oriented environment an assetExperience in the use of visual supports and/or assistive technologyExperience working with students with emotional regulation, sensory needs, and complex communicators (e.G., Augmentative and Alternative Communication)Proven ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a teamStrong interpersonal skills requiredStrong organizational skills requiredOwn transportation is necessaryBenefitsIn accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement, this position offers a comprehensive benefits package found under Alberta School Employee Benefit Plan.#J-18808-Ljbffr
