Work Location: Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario. This role is eligible for in-office, hybrid, or remote work within the provinces where we operate. The successful candidate will be hired based on their current residence in one of these provinces.

Pay Range: $90,116 - $120,147

We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our Data Science team. As a Data Scientist, you will utilise your expertise in statistical models, machine learning, and scientific methods to extract insights from complex datasets and support data-driven decisions to enhance SGI’s products.

In this role, you will test models to evaluate strategies, create algorithms, and run simulations to drive business outcomes. You will develop predictive and prescriptive analytical models that improve products and processes and enable artificial intelligence to automate business decision-making.

What We're Looking For

You bring a combination of strong technical expertise with the ability to translate data into meaningful stories and recommendations, including:

- Knowledge of machine learning, statistics, and predictive modeling techniques.
- Understanding of relational databases and data structures.
- Proficiency with tools such as Python, R, SQL, or similar analytics technologies.
- Experience working with large and complex datasets to generate actionable insights.
- Experience within the Insurance Industry is considered an asset.
- Ability to communicate complex data insights through clear and compelling visualizations.
- A passion for learning and staying current with emerging analytics and AI technologies.

The skills and experience for this role are typically gained through a four-year degree in a relevant field of study,



like Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering and Computer Science, along with three to five years’ experience in data science, research, and/or equivalent role. Working towards or dedication to pursue designations and/or certifications in Data Science (e.g., Certified Specialist in Predictive Analytics [CSPA] designation from the Casualty Actuarial Institute or equivalent) is considered an asset.
