Our Deck Supervisors:
Locations: Southfields Community Centre
Hourly pay rate: $26.72/hr
- Supervise all aquatics staff and volunteers to ensure proper guard positions, instructional settings,
and alerts.
- Prepare and implement program content based on program objectives outlined by the Town.
- Prepare course facilities, teaching material and equipment. Prepare program outlines, lesson plans and material for participants as required.
- Provide program instruction and leadership at the appropriate skill level of participants and follow program scheduling.
- Responsible for securing the facility before and after programs.
- Perform various maintenance duties to provide a clean, healthy, safe environment for the program and ensure equipment is stored as required.
- Prepare the area (including equipment) for upcoming programs including lessons, leadership courses or other drop-in activities.
- Perform administrative tasks in accordance with Town standards and set deadlines (i.e. attendance,
worksheets, report cards, Injury and Incident Reports etc.).
Candidates for these positions will have the following training and skills:
- Current National Lifeguard, Lifesaving Society Swim and Lifesaving Instructor, Emergency First Aid Instructor and completion of Aquatics Supervisor Training (AST)
- Minimum 1 year of lifeguarding and aquatics instructing experience.
- SEE Auditor Certification.
- Either Leadership instructor (advanced Quals) or Aquafit Certification.
Additional duties:
- Perform administrative tasks (i.e. attendance, preparation, Injury and Incident Reports etc.)
- Attend team meetings and training sessions.
- Assist in providing a clean, healthy, protected environment for the program and ensure equipment is stored as required.
- Immediately report incidents to the Recreation Coordinator or designate.
Additional training and skills required:
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR- C
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Please note that applicants for all aquatics positions must be 15 years of age or older at the start of employment, as established by the Ontario government in Regulation 565.
Satisfactory passing of a vulnerable sector check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for these positions.
