Transportation Supervisor

Location: Calgary, Alberta

Pay Rate: $36-$38.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday to Friday, day shift

Start Time: Approximately 6:30 a.m. or 9:00 a.m. (to be confirmed)

Employment Type: Temporary-to-permanent

Aeolus Staffing Solutions is recruiting an experienced Transportation Supervisor for one of our established clients in Calgary, Alberta.

The successful candidate will oversee the daily operation of approximately 12 delivery vehicles and provide direct leadership to the route-driving team. This position requires a hands-on supervisor who can coordinate routes, support employees, resolve customer-service issues, and maintain strong safety and compliance standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesTransportation and Route Operations

- Coordinate daily route schedules and ensure all planned customer stops are completed
- Reassign drivers, vehicles, and other resources when operational issues arise
- Respond to disruptions such as vehicle breakdowns, accidents, staffing shortages, or capacity limitations
- Review completed routes with drivers and confirm that all required delivery and service documentation has been submitted
- Monitor open orders, missed stops, delays, and other service concerns through to resolution
- Review route performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity
- Complete regular inspections of the yard, vehicles, equipment, and operational areas
- Maintain appropriate levels of operational and inventory supplies

Customer Service
- Maintain a consistently high standard of service across all assigned routes
- Monitor key performance measures, including on-time service, completed stops, and customer retention
- Investigate customer concerns and coordinate timely resolutions
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and service-related issues
- Build professional relationships with customers and encourage open, honest service feedback




- Conduct customer visits when required to review service quality and address operational concerns
- Process account or service cancellations accurately using SAP or other internal systems

Team Leadership and Development
- Supervise, coach, and support route drivers and other assigned employees
- Assist with recruiting, screening, onboarding, training, and developing new team members
- Establish clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback
- Conduct employee performance reviews and recommend appropriate development or corrective actions
- Lead team meetings and communicate operational updates, policy changes, safety information, and departmental priorities
- Conduct ride-alongs and field observations to evaluate driver safety, productivity, efficiency, and customer service
- Perform spot checks to confirm that drivers are following established procedures and service standards
- Promote a respectful, accountable, and safety-focused workplace

Productivity and Resource Management
- Monitor department workload and employee productivity
- Recommend and implement operational improvements involving staffing, processes, equipment, or route structure
- Review employee hours and overtime to ensure labour is being used efficiently
- Help ensure staffing levels are appropriate for daily operational requirements
- Manage company assets, including vehicles, containers, load-securing equipment, hand trucks, mobile devices, printers, and other transportation equipment
- Report damaged, missing, or improperly maintained equipment

Safety and Compliance
- Ensure employees perform their duties safely, productively, and in accordance with company procedures




- Communicate and enforce workplace policies, transportation requirements, and safety standards
- Track driver hours and maintain accurate hours-of-service records
- Maintain driver qualification records, logbooks, vehicle inspection reports, and other compliance documentation
- Conduct scheduled safety meetings, toolbox talks, and operational briefings
- Identify unsafe practices and recommend corrective measures to reduce the risk of accidents and workplace injuries
- Assist with incident investigations and follow-up actions when required
- Complete other operational and supervisory duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Previous supervisory or team-lead experience within transportation, logistics, distribution, fleet operations, or a related setting
- Experience managing drivers, delivery routes, or field-based employees is strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of transportation safety, driver compliance, and vehicle inspection requirements
- Demonstrated ability to manage scheduling challenges and operational disruptions
- Strong leadership, coaching, and employee-development skills
- Excellent communication, customer-service, and problem-solving abilities
- Comfortable reviewing payroll hours, productivity results, and operational performance
- Experience using SAP, transportation-management software, or route-tracking systems is an asset
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general administrative systems
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to participate in ride-alongs and customer visits
- Must be available to work on-site in Calgary from Monday to Friday
