Located in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia, Trail offers outdoor adventure at your fingertips.Role OverviewReporting to the Group Leader, Analytical Services, the Technician, Analytical Services provides analysis using optical emissions spectrometers, LECO C/S analyzer, calorimeter, alpha detectors, ICP-OES instruments and the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). A 4 x 4 shift (days/nights) schedule is in effect for this position.Key ResponsibilitiesBe a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and proceduresObserve safety and hygiene regulations and procedures in the performance of dutiesProvide analyses by following established procedures,



recognizing problems as they arise and correcting themWork in a variety of sections to meet changing work requirements or prioritiesParticipate as a member of a team under the direction of a Senior Technician in special projects and method development projects aimed at extending the capabilities and service supplied by Analytical ServicesConduct routine and assigned quality control tasks to maintain accuracy of resultsUse knowledge of Analytical Services and assaying procedures to train other technicians and traineesTroubleshoot problems as they occur; update and upgrade documented analytical procedures and data; report conclusions and recommend actionRecognize interferences between elements and take action (complexing, removing) using instrumental principles to optimize sensitivities during instrument set-upEnter results into the LIMS for direct reporting to Operations; report unusual conditions directly to customersQualificationsA graduate with a B.Sc. in Chemistry, BC Certified Assayer or graduate of a two-year chemical sciences program (or equivalent) with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in an industrial laboratory is requiredPreference will be given to those who have experience in an ISO accredited laboratoryBenefitsHealth Spending AccountPersonal Spending AccountExtended Health CareDental and Vision CareEmployer Paid Pension PlanLife Insurance and Disability CoveragePaid Sick Leave, Vacation, and HolidaysVirtual Telemedicine and additional support for overall well-beingEmployer and Family Assistance Program (EFAP)Pay Range:$95,856 - $103,632#J-18808-Ljbffr
