About the Opportunity

Our client, a publicly traded mining company with a Toronto-based corporate office, is seeking an Bilingual Interim Controller to lead financial reporting through a high-priority period of transaction preparation and corporate ambiguity. Reporting into the VP, Finance, you’ll own quarterly IFRS reporting and manage the IFRS-to-US GAAP conversion required for equity pickup into the public parent’s US GAAP reporting. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders including the CFO, and directly manage one Senior Financial Analyst, while partnering near-daily with a fully Argentina-based administration/site team.

Key Responsibilities

- Own quarterly IFRS financial reporting for the private operating entity, including coordination through auditor review
- Manage the IFRS-to-US GAAP conversion process to support equity pickup into the public parent’s US GAAP reporting
- Deliver equity pickup reporting packages and numbers on tight timelines, ensuring accuracy and early internal review
- Lead the year-end reporting critical path to ensure equity pickup requirements are met in advance of the February 28 US GAAP filing deadline
- Drive technical accounting conclusions, including ensuring the capitalization policy is appropriately applied and aligned across IFRS and US GAAP
- Analyze and interpret Argentine statutory financial statements, including hyperinflationary accounting (IAS 29) and local statutory/accounting interpretations
- Partner closely with the Argentina-based team to obtain, interpret, and validate financial support and documentation
- Translate and interpret Spanish-language financial statements and supporting materials to inform corporate reporting conclusions




- Provide day-to-day support and communication to senior stakeholders (VP Finance, CFO) and manage/coach one direct report (SFA)

What You Bring

- CPA designation
- Proven ability to operate as a hands-on Controller, owning the function independently in a lean environment
- Strong, recent IFRS reporting experience at the Controller level (must-have)
- Fluent Spanish (Argentine / South American Spanish strongly preferred)
- Comfort working with hyperinflationary accounting considerations and complex statutory/local reporting nuance (Argentina highly preferred)
- Working exposure to US GAAP, including conversion work from IFRS (nice-to-have)
- Experience in mining and/or development-stage project accounting (preferred)
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities in a transaction-oriented environment
- Big 4 background is welcome; client is open to a strong Big 4 candidate moving into contracting
