SiREM, an operating division of Geosyntec Consultants has an exciting opportunity for an Laboratory Intern to work with our team of scientists and engineers in addressing our client’s environmental remediation needs in Guelph, ON. The position will perform laboratory testing procedures related to treatability testing and provide neat, accurate, and comprehensive documentation of all laboratory related activities being performed while working cooperatively with other members of the laboratory team.
We are seeking a co-op / intern for approximately 13 to 15 weeks during the fall semester of 2026. This opening is for a 40-hour per week position and part time employment will not be considered. The candidate must be part of a co-op program. Candidates are responsible for coordinating their own transportation to and from the office.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs general laboratory duties and housekeeping: provide support for laboratory testing, including: pipetting, measuring, sampling, data entry, etc.;
- Performs laboratory tests including: probe analyses (pH, ORP, conductivity, dissolved oxygen)
and colorimetric and photometric analyses;
- Prepare and sample bench-scale reactors and columns with contaminated groundwater and soils
- Record test results on standardized forms and write test reports describing procedures used;
- Prepare graphs and charts;
- Clean and sterilizes laboratory equipment;
- Calibrate laboratory instruments;
- Prepares chemical solutions according to standard procedures and protocols;
- Provides neat, accurate, and comprehensive documentation of all laboratory-related activities, as required;
- Observe and abide by the policies and procedures outlined in the company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety Management policies and procedures; and
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Licensure
- College diploma in biotechnology or related field. (required); or
- University undergraduate degree in biology, chemistry, environmental science or related field. (required)
Skills, Experience And Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic analytical chemistry techniques.
- Experience with pH and ORP measurement.
- Familiarity with sample preparation procedures.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and laboratory documentation systems.
Below is the range that we in good faith believe is the potential compensation for this role at the time of this posting and is only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.
- Minimum: $24.89/hour / Maximum: $34.85/hour (Guelph, ON)
