The successful candidate will be comfortable working in trenches, around excavators and other heavy equipment, and as part of a coordinated field crew.Our projects may include road construction, earthworks, drainage, utility installation, pipeline maintenance, mine support work, site development, reclamation, and civil infrastructure upgrades. We are looking for pipe layers who take pride in quality workmanship, understand safe trenching and excavation practices, and can work well with foremen, excavator operators, labourers, truck drivers, and project teams.This is an excellent opportunity for experienced pipe layers who enjoy varied project work and are open to supporting projects in different locations throughout Western Canada.Key ResponsibilitiesPipe Installation & Underground Utility WorkInstall storm, sanitary, water, culvert, drainage, and underground utility systems as directedSet, align, grade, and connect pipe according to project specifications and field directionWork safely in and around trenches, excavations, bedding material, utilities, and active equipmentAssist with pipe bedding, backfilling, compaction, and trench preparationSupport installation of manholes, catch basins, culverts, fittings, valves, and related infrastructureRead and understand basic grade stakes, laser levels, markings, drawings, and field layoutCheck grades, slopes, elevations, and alignments to support accurate installationWork closely with excavator operators to ensure safe and efficient pipe placementCivil Construction SupportSupport road construction, drainage improvements, site development, earthworks, and infrastructure projectsAssist with site preparation, trench cleanup, material handling, and general crew supportCoordinate with foremen, operators, labourers, surveyors, and other field personnelHelp sequence work to support secure and efficient productionIdentify field issues such as grade conflicts, unsuitable ground, drainage concerns or utility conflicts and report them to supervisionSupport practical problem‑solving as site conditions changeTools, Materials & Site OrganizationUse hand tools, pipe tools,



small equipment, lasers, levels, and measuring tools safely and effectivelyLoad, unload, move and organize pipe, fittings, tools, materials, bedding and construction suppliesMaintain clean, safe, and organized work areas, trench zones, and material staging areasSupport proper storage and handling of pipe, fittings, valves and related materialsAssist with daily setup, shutdown, and cleanup activitiesReport damaged tools, missing materials or site concerns to supervisionSafety & ComplianceFollow all company, client and project safety policies, procedures and safe work practicesParticipate in daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, field‑level hazard assessments, and site orientationsMaintain strong awareness around trenches, excavations, heavy equipment, traffic, utilities, slopes, and changing site conditionsUse required personal protective equipment at all timesFollow safe excavation, trenching, shoring and confined space procedures where applicableIdentify and report hazards, incidents, near‑misses or unsafe conditionsDemonstrate a strong commitment to safety, quality, teamwork and productive work practicesWhat You BringPrevious experience as a pipe layer in civil construction, roadwork, utility, drainage or infrastructure projectsStrong understanding of underground utility installation, trench safety, bedding, backfill and grade controlExperience installing storm, sanitary, water, culvert and drainage systems is preferredAbility to work safely around excavators, loaders, compactors, trucks and workers on footAbility to read and understand grade stakes, markings, plans and field directionStrong work ethic and willingness to perform physically demanding tasksGood communication skills and ability to work as part of a crewReliable, punctual and willing to travel for project‑based workStrong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanshipSafety‑focused attitude and ability to follow site proceduresQualificationsPrevious pipe‑laying experience is requiredExperience in civil construction, mining, pipeline maintenance, road construction, drainage, utilities, reclamation, or earthworks is considered an assetValid Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable transportation are preferredConfined Space, Ground Disturbance, CSTS, WHMIS, First Aid, H2S Alive or other safety certifications are considered assets depending on project requirementsAbility to lift, carry, shovel, rake,
