Registered Veterinary Technician – Anesthesia (Surgery & Neurology)We are a Level1 certified veterinary hospital located in beautiful British Columbia on the outskirts of Vancouver. We welcome experienced technicians and recent graduates who are interested in anesthesia for surgical and neurological cases. Training and mentorship are provided.ResponsibilitiesPatient care and basic skills: perform TPRs and IV catheter placements, take thorough patient histories, communicate effectively, prepare patients and assist with surgical procedures, clean and sanitize instruments.Anesthesia and monitoring: administer and monitor anesthesia across ASA classifications I–V, utilize ECG, doppler, oscillometer, pulse oximetry, capnography, perform endotracheal intubation and manage airway, administer IV fluids and emergency drugs, assist with anesthesia for MRI, CT, diagnostic, elective and emergent procedures, apply advanced techniques such as TIVA, epidurals, nerve blocks, ventilator use, invasive blood pressure monitoring.Surgeries & procedures: support soft tissue and orthopedic procedures (TPLO, THR, MPL, fracture repairs, arthroscopy), soft tissue procedures (abdominal exploratory, TECA-BO, maxillectomy/mandibulectomy), oncologic surgeries (mass removal, limb amputations, thoracic tumor resections), thoracic procedures (thoracotomy, sternotomy, diaphragmatic hernia repair), emergency surgeries (GDV, hemoabdomen, penetrating trauma, wound reconstruction, cesarean section). Neurology procedures include spinal surgeries (hemilaminectomy, ventral slot, spinal stabilization), brain surgeries (craniotomy, intracranial mass removal,
ventriculoperitoneal shunt placement) and diagnostic procedures (MRI, CT, CSF taps).Why This Role is ExcitingCollaborative and supportive team of specialists.Hands‑on experience in advanced anesthesia and specialty cases.Full training with mentorship from experienced staff.Opportunities for qualified growth and continuing education.Positive attitude and willingness to learn are highly valued.QualificationsGraduate of an accredited veterinary technician program.Successful completion of the VTNE.Eligible for registration with the BCVTA.Experience in an emergency or referral setting is an asset (training provided).Strong communication, critical thinking, teamwork, detail‑oriented, reliable, adaptable.Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced specialty hospital.English language proficiency.Education & ExperienceCollege, CEGEP or other certificate or diploma of 1–2 years or equivalent experience.
