About Buddha Board

Buddha Board is the original water painting board. A simple, screen-free way to slow down and be present. Founded in Vancouver in 2000, Buddha Board has sold over 1 million boards worldwide, inspiring people to find peace in the present moment through the medium of art. We're a small, focused team, and marketing sits at the heart of how we grow.

About the role

As the Director of Marketing, you will own Buddha Board's marketing engine end-to-end. Strategy, brand, content, paid media, retention, influencer, PR, and B2B enablement. As the leader of the marketing department, you will set direction, own budget allocation, and report directly to leadership on the performance of the full function.

You'll architect annual and seasonal strategy and direct our external paid media agency, while staying hands-on enough to shape a creative brief, write a subject line, or negotiate a creator contract in the same week.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Performance

- Defining overall marketing strategy, channel mix, and the operating plan behind it
- Owning the reporting cadence to leadership with clear recommendations
- Defining and tracking KPIs across every channel: ROAS, CAC, and spend efficiency for paid; engagement and growth for organic; revenue per flow and deliverability for email; conversion, AOV, and attribution for e-commerce; cost per placement and attributable sales for influencer and PR
- Synthesizing data from marketing tools and social analytics into a single view leadership can act on
- Owning and maintaining the brand kit and guidelines, including versions shared with agencies and partners

Content & Community

- Setting Instagram and TikTok strategy and creative direction, and owning the monthly content calendar
- Managing content creators,

ad creative, and maintaining a consistent posting cadence
- Evaluating expansion into YouTube, LinkedIn, and other platforms
- Sourcing creators, negotiating contracts, and approving all content before it goes live

Growth Channels & B2B

- Directing our external paid media agency across TikTok, Meta, and Amazon, briefing campaigns, setting creative direction, allocating budget, and holding performance accountable to targets
- Owning customer lifecycle marketing flows while driving list growth and segmentation
- Producing B2B sales collateral and reporting on marketing-sourced leads
- Planning and leading in-person activations including tradeshows, art events, and pop-ups

What we're looking for

- 5+ years of progressive marketing experience, including senior ownership of social and paid media
- Proven strategist and operator, credible presenting quarterly plans and hands-on in the day-to-day
- Experience setting paid media strategy and directing an agency relationship (TikTok, Meta, Amazon)
- Solid command of Klaviyo or a comparable ESP
- Sharp content instincts, you know what performs organically versus what needs paid support
- Analytical confidence with Shopify, ad platforms, and native social insights
- Exceptional written communication for email, community, and executive reporting
- Willingness and ability to lead in-person events
- Highly organized self-starter who can run many concurrent workstreams

Nice to have

- Familiarity with Amazon advertising and storefront management
- Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe Suite)
- Brand guideline or brand kit development experience
- Experience hiring or mentoring marketers

Please submit your resume to [email protected]. Application closes Friday, September 18, 2026.
