Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Optometrist role located in Strathroy, ON. The Optometrist will provide comprehensive eye examinations, including refractions, ocular health assessments, and contact lens evaluations for a diverse patient base. Day-to-day responsibilities include diagnosing and managing ocular conditions, co-managing care with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals, and recommending appropriate treatments or referrals.
The Optometrist will educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and eyewear options, while working closely with the clinical and optical teams to ensure smooth patient flow and high-quality service.
Additional responsibilities may include contributing to practice growth, maintaining accurate clinical documentation, and supporting the integration of new technologies or clinical p rotocols.Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution and eligibility for licensure in Ontario.
- Clinical skills in comprehensive eye exams, ocular disease diagnosis and management, contact lens fitting, and pediatric and adult vision care.
- Strong patient communication skills, including the ability to explain clinical findings clearly and provide empathetic, patient-centered care.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with opticians, technicians, and other healthcare providers in a team-based clinical setting.
- Comfort with using digital diagnostic equipment, electronic health records, and practice management systems.
- Attention to detail, sound clinical judgment, and commitment to evidence-based practice and continuing professional development.
- Previous experience in a community optometry or medical eye care setting is an asset.
- Willingness to work standard full time hours on-site in Strathroy, ON, with flexibility for occasional extended or weekend hours as needed.
