Role Description The Payment Processing Specialist is a full-time, remote role based in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada. This role is responsible for coordinating and executing daily crypto-to-fiat and fiat-to-crypto settlements, ensuring timely and accurate processing of high-value transactions. The specialist will verify transaction details, reconcile payments, monitor payment queues, and maintain clear records in accordance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.

They will communicate with internal teams to resolve payment issues, confirm instructions, and provide status updates. The role also involves identifying process improvements, supporting compliance checks, and assisting with reporting related to transaction volumes, discrepancies, and operational risk.

Qualifications

- Strong payment operations and settlement skills, including transaction reconciliation, record-keeping, and attention to detail.
- Experience working with banking platforms, payment rails (e.g., wire transfers, ACH, SWIFT), and financial transaction workflows.
- Knowledge of cryptocurrency fundamentals, digital asset exchanges, and OTC trading environments.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve payment discrepancies efficiently.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with clients and cross-functional internal teams.




- Comfort working with spreadsheets and basic financial tools to track, analyze, and report transaction data.
- Understanding of compliance and risk considerations in financial services, including KYC/AML concepts (experience in regulated environments is an asset).
- Ability to work on-site full-time in the Greater Toronto Area, manage priorities in a time-sensitive environment, and handle confidential information responsibly.
- Relevant experience in payments, operations, treasury, or banking; prior exposure to crypto or fintech is required.
- Post-secondary education in finance, business, economics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Process, verify, and reconcile incoming and outgoing fiat and cryptocurrency payment transactions accurately and on time.
- Monitor payment queues and transaction dashboards to identify and resolve delays, failures, or discrepancies.
- Support day-to-day operations related to stablecoin and crypto-based cross-border payment flows.
- Liaise with banking partners, payment processors, and crypto liquidity/exchange partners to resolve transaction issues.
- Assist with transaction reconciliation between internal ledgers, bank statements, and blockchain records.
- Flag unusual or suspicious transaction activity to the Compliance team in line with internal AML/CFT procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation to support audits and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with Compliance, Operations, and Engineering teams to improve payment processes and reduce transaction errors.
- Assist customers and internal stakeholders with payment-related inquiries and escalations.

Stay current on payment rails, crypto settlement processes, and relevant industry developments.

Compensation and Benefits

- Annual base salary of CAD $45,000 – $50,000, commensurate with experience.
