The Role
Rising antimicrobial resistance (AMR) poses a threat for modern medicine and society as a whole. In 2021, 1.1 million global deaths were attributable to AMR. Misuse and overuse of antibiotics are important contributors to this health crisis and actions are necessary to slow AMR to mitigate its detrimental impacts where we can no longer effectively treat bacterial infectious diseases.
This position will provide support for a range of projects related to measuring the burden of antimicrobial resistance, and implementing stewardship interventions and other approaches for addressing antimicrobial resistance in Ontario. Specifically, the position is to provide support to implement research projects relating to the measuring the public health impacts of antimicrobial resistance, and designing antimicrobial stewardship interventions.
Specifically the selected candidate will help coordinate and provide administrative support on strategic planning, operational or research activities which may include (but are not limited to): preparation of presentation materials, updating an internal SharePoint website, maintaining files and contact lists, organizing meetings, managing registrations, coordinating various types of submissions, transfer payments to recipient organizations, as well as development of workplans and activity reports.

- Knowledge of transfer payment agreements and the ability to develop and administer transfer payment contracts to recipient organizations (e.g., annual Schedule A, workplan development and performance activity reports); prepare roll-up of transfer payment quarterly activity reports, internal activity reports,
and annual final activity reports for submission to provincial funders.
- Contract and budget coordination and numeracy skills, to coordinate budget and quarterly financial reporting templates with the Finance.
- Customer Service orientation, tact, diplomacy, and experience in communicating with a variety of stakeholders.
Education And Experience-
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, social science or a related discipline.
- 1 to 3 years’ experience at a provincial agency, ministry, or university related to core content areas such as research, health promotion and the primary prevention of chronic diseases and injury is required.
- Office computer and data management skills with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project); familiarity with SharePoint in order to manage documents and processes on SharePoint.
Attributes and Competencies-
- Oral and written communication skills to draft meeting minutes, commentary, reports, summaries and presentations as well as to maintain collaborative working relationships with stakeholders, networks and partners.
- Client service and relationship building skills are required, such as to facilitate and organize meetings, create terms of reference, and maintain communication among study partners.
- Contributes to regular updates on projects, programs and research activities for inclusion on the PHO’s website, therefore, providing access to accurate, timely and current data/information.
- Supports continuous quality improvement approaches to the area of responsibility (e.g, supports the development and integration of business delivery solutions and systems/tools, including a customer relationship management database).
- Coordinates, organizes and plans work activities in the provision of logistical support for the managers and team members to liaise with agencies, and other professionals.
- Judgement and analytical skills are required in monitoring, analyzing and evaluating results relating to transfer payment and preparing reports and other materials.
- Accountable for assisting the team with programs / operational / research tasks such as preparation of agenda, meeting minutes, presentations, preparation of CVs, abstract submissions, poster preparations, manuscript submission and grant applications etc.
- Accountable for preparing for and supporting managers, team, investigator and advisory committee meetings, by coordinating logistics including speaker management, travel and catering, and taking minutes.
- Accountable for the promotion of PHO mandate and strategic initiatives through supporting presentations and participation on PHO committees and at conferences / meetings.
- Teamwork skills are required to provide assistance and support to team members.
Duration: Contract (Fixed Term), 24 month(s) Hours of Work: Full time, 36.25 hours per week
Compensation Group:Association of Management, Administrative and Professional Crown Employees of Ontario
Compensation Range :$57,004.00 - $74,300.00
