Real Estate ParalegalWe are currently seeking a Real Estate Paralegal to join our team. Reporting to the Partner in charge of the Real Estate Department, the Real Estate Paralegal is primarily supporting the efforts of the Real Estate department and related lawyers at our Firm, assisting with the completion of various residential real estate transactions.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Performing due diligence for real estate transactions.
- Drafting, purchase contracts, trust letters, and other real property and conveyancing related documents.
- Requesting and processing mortgage advances, stage payments, and file payouts for residential, commercial, and builders’ mortgages.
- Reviewing and understanding title work and surveys.
- Coordinating and preparing documents for transaction closings.
- Requesting various searches: tax, title, company, and Personal Property Registry.
- Reviewing documents and files.
- Corresponding with clients, solicitors, mortgage brokers, and real estate agents.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Paralegal or Legal Assistant certificate or diploma from a recognized institution.
- 5+ years’ experience as a Real Estate Legal Assistant or Paralegal.
- Equivalent combinations of relevant education and experience will be considered.
- Working knowledge of provincial and federal laws and terminology.
- Experience with drafting legal documents.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to liaise and maintain positive working relationships with with lawyers, Pitblado Law staff and external clients.
- Strong computer skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Ability to handle several time-sensitive projects simultaneously.
