Ideon Technologies uses the energy from supernova explosions in space to image deep beneath the Earth’s surface. The world pioneer in cosmic-ray muon tomography, Ideon has developed the REVEAL™ Subsurface Intelligence Platform™, comprised of proprietary data-generation hardware, software, Al-powered services, and multi-physics fusion that provide x-ray-like visibility deep underground and unlock the exponential power of integrated spatial data. In turn, this is helping accelerate the world’s transition to low-impact mining and transform how companies recover the critical minerals required to power the global shift to clean energy – improving peoples’ lives and enhancing economic prosperity.
Ideon is a dynamic tech scale-up of 80 employees (and growing!), with team members in Canada, Australia, Chile, and the United States. We are committed to seeking out the best brains and the most exceptional humans, however they happen to be packaged. Learn more at ideon.ai.
The Role
Ideon’s commercial teams – Business Development, Technical Solutions, Customer Success, Marketing & Communications, and Revenue Operations – operate as a single revenue system with shared data and definitions, and a single forecast. The Revenue Operations (Rev Ops) Lead – a brand new role – will own how that system fits together.
This is a hands-on role in a scaling company. You will be the only person in this function to start, building the systems we need with AI tooling while you run them. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), you will work closely with various individuals, particularly Business Development Executives in North America, Australia, and Latin America.
Marketing owns demand-generation programs, campaigns, and content; you own the target parameters and the funnel measurement.
Business Development
Executives own their accounts, their opportunities, and their forecast decisions; you own the standard those decisions are held to.
Customer
Success owns customer health, cross-functional program delivery, and renewal execution; you own the system that surfaces and tracks retention activities. Finance owns the ledgers; you own the commercial numbers that inform them.
You will set the standards the team works to – how opportunities are recorded, when a deal is ready to move forward, what a number means – with the CCO’s support in applying consistently. This role requires judgement as much as rigour, and the credibility to hold a standard with experienced teammates while also helping them deliver.
In this role you will move the team forward by owning:
Customer Relationship Management System
- Run HubSpot: pipeline stages, stage criteria, required fields, workflows, integrations, and permissions.
- Write the standards and help teammates keep records complete and accurate.
- Triage and route incoming enquiries with Marketing so they are answered quickly and qualified opportunities reach the right Business Development Executive.
- Ensure handovers from Business Development to Customer Success are clean so delivery starts with the context needed and we only promise what we can deliver well.
Definitions & forecasting
- Own how we define our commercial metrics, and be the person who can explain what each one means and why we use it.
- Run a single weekly, evidence-based forecast for the commercial team.
- Reconcile the forecast against pipeline evidence and delivery capacity, and raise discrepancies early.
- Partner with Finance on definitions, reporting,
and anything commercial reviewed outside the company.
Analytics & reporting
- Build and maintain the reporting our leadership team and board use.
- Produce the weekly reporting pack, and replace manual analysis with something repeatable.
- Review wins and losses regularly, and feed what you learn back into how we sell.
- Answer one-off questions quickly, then fix whatever made them hard to answer.
AI & automation
- Own how we use AI and automation: what gets built, what earns its place, what gets retired, and how we check outputs before they reach customers.
- Keep automation running on HubSpot rather than around it, within our security and data rules, with a named person accountable for every customer- or Board-facing output.
Enablement & onboarding
- Run onboarding and training for new commercial team members so they get up to speed quickly.
- Own the sales knowledge base in Notion and the call library in Gong – playbooks, proposals, and discovery questions – and keep it current and shaped by what the team learns.
Incentive plan administration
- Partner with Talent and Finance to oversee our team's incentive compensation plan: how plans work, tracking attainment, quota coverage, and exceptions.
- Produce accurate attainment statements.
Success in the role looks like:
- Commercial data is accurate, current, and trusted, and leadership can answer pipeline questions with confidence. The weekly reporting pack is produced efficiently, is trusted, and is used.
- Inbound interest is triaged and routed promptly, and qualified opportunities reach the right people fast.
- Advanced deals move forward with complete stage gate evidence, and the stage gate process holds without unnecessary escalation.
- The forecast is reliable quarter after quarter, and teams understand and agree on how it is built.
- Win and loss reviews happen regularly and learnings inform our approach.
- New team members get up-to-speed quickly and consistently.
- Compensation statements are accurate and on time.
- Routine work is automated, so BD Execs spend more time with customers and less on admin.
- The work is documented well so it does not depend solely on one person.
Priorities in the first few months will include:
1. Learning the business – our customers, how a project turns into revenue, and where the process breaks down today.
2. Agreeing on our commercial metric definitions with Finance, and rolling them out to the team.
3. Reviewing pipeline stages and criteria in HubSpot, reconfiguring as needed, and applying them consistently.
4. Automating the work that takes the most manual effort, and measuring the impact.
5. Taking ownership of the weekly forecast and reporting pack.
Qualifications Must-haves:
- Several years in rev ops, sales ops, or commercial analytics, in a B2B environment with long, complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles.
- Hands-on CRM ownership rather than CRM use. You have designed and configured. HubSpot is our platform but Salesforce or comparable experience is great.
- Experience owning or building a sales forecast, and the ability to explain how you made it reliable.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort with data.
You can move from a raw export to a defensible answer independently, and explain that answer to various audiences.
- Fluency with AI tooling in real work – you’ve built, automated, or governed with AI, with lessons learned on what did and didn’t work.
- The credibility and judgement to hold a standard with experienced teammates.
- Comfortable building and operating at the same time, with the resources available.
- Superb organizational skills and the ability to carry several priorities through to completion.
- Well-developed communication skills in English at a fluent or professional level, written and verbal.
- Legally able and currently documented to work full-time hours in Canada.
Nice-to-haves:
- Background in mining, heavy industry, capital equipment, or another long-cycle technical sales environment.
- Experience supporting a commercial team through a period of rapid growth.
- Sales compensation and quota administration.
- Experience with Gong, Notion, Power BI, or similar reporting and enablement tooling.
- Sales development or qualification experience.
- Spanish language skills.
We also look for the following from all new Ideon team members:
- Experience in or excitement for working in a tech scale-up; happy to wear a few hats and adjust on the fly.
- An ambitious, can-do attitude; you get that we’re doing challenging work and are excited to dive in.
- Enthusiastic and confident to take initiative and be adaptable in an agile, fast-paced setting.
- Solid teamwork skills; you’re accountable to yourself and your team and will jump in to help where you can.
- Creative solutioning mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Insatiable curiosity paired with a drive to deliver.
- Able to work well under pressure and to meet committed deadlines.
- Great interpersonal skills; able to build relationships with colleagues, customers, and external stakeholders.
- Able to contribute something “extra” to our culture beyond the work that you do, like wowing people with your home-baked goods, sharing improv comedy skills, or organizing sports games.
