About the Role A Few Good Lads is looking for experienced

Pipelayers

to join construction crews working on municipal water, sewer, and underground infrastructure projects.

The Pipelayer will work closely with the Foreman and other crew members to safely and efficiently install piping, manholes, and other underground structures. The successful candidate will have strong hands‑on experience and be comfortable taking a leadership role within the crew, including supporting and mentoring less experienced workers.

This is a physically demanding outdoor position that requires someone who is safety-focused, reliable, and comfortable working in a variety of weather and site conditions.

Key Responsibilities

Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment

Operate hand tools and construction equipment

Signal and direct equipment operators when placing sand, rock, pipe, and other materials

Assist with aligning and installing water mains and sewer piping

Read grades using a level and ensure pipe is installed to the correct grade

Lead work in the excavation and ensure quality installation

Direct labourers and helpers with tamping, backfilling, and other tasks

Dig around existing pipes and utilities when required

Lift and move plywood, air struts, and other materials

Operate pumps, pneumatic hammers, vibrators, and tampers as directed

Guide excavator operators during final grading and structure installation

Safely rig and move manhole materials using chains and straps

Mentor and train Pipelayer Helpers and Labourers

Maintain a clean and safe work area

Follow all company and site safety procedures





Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Previous experience as a

Pipelayer

Experience with water main, sewer, or underground construction

Ability to read and work with grades and elevations

Ability to safely work around heavy equipment and underground utilities

Strong understanding of construction safety procedures

Ability to lift up to

60 lbs. unaided

Valid

Class 5 driver's licence

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Reliable and safety-focused

Required Certifications

Confined Space Entry/Monitor

H2S Alive

Fall Protection

CSTS 2020

WHMIS 2015

Fit Testing (shaving may be required)

Working Conditions This is a physically demanding position that requires working in different positions, including standing, kneeling, bending, and lifting.

Work is primarily outdoors and may involve dusty, underground, and confined environments, including sewer systems. Employees must be prepared to work in a variety of weather conditions.
