Position OverviewWSP's Resources subsector within the Energy, Resources & Industry business line supports mining and heavy industrial clients across Canada. This role shapes electrical power systems for these clients, supporting both new construction and brown‐field projects. The position is based in Newfoundland and involves engineering and project execution excellence across the full project lifecycle.ResponsibilitiesDesign electrical power distribution and control systems for secure, reliable industrial operations.Apply technical expertise in hazardous classification environments, including flammable gases and combustible dusts.Conduct power system studies—load flow, short‐circuit, arc‐flash analysis—using tools such as ETAP or EasyPower.Prepare specifications and data sheets for switchgear, MCCs, transformers, and associated equipment.Deliver electrical systems design across power distribution, motor control, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, and related systems.Incorporate regulatory compliance, safety considerations, and risk analysis into every stage of design.Oversee engineering calculations and verify design accuracy through field reviews and site evaluations.Coordinate design activities across disciplines and offices to support seamless project execution.Build relationships with clients, respond to technical inquiries, and provide expert guidance.Mentor junior staff and help grow the next generation of electrical engineering talent.Qualifications and Skills5+ years of electrical engineering design experience supporting heavy industrial facilities.Registered Canadian Professional Engineer in NL (P.Eng.); additional jurisdictions considered an asset.Strong understanding of CSA, ANSI, IEEE, building codes,



and other relevant standards.Proficiency in power system modelling tools and familiarity with instrumentation, automation, and control systems.Ability to execute project work across power distribution, grounding, heat tracing, fire alarms, cathodic protection, and related systems.Experience working in industrial environments such as mines, mills, refineries, ports, or material‐handling facilities.Valid driver's licence and ability to attend industrial sites in accordance with safety requirements.Collaborative mindset with the ability to work within multi‐discipline project teams.CompensationAB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $98,800 – $130,800MB & ON: $90,100 – $124,100NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $89,200 – $118,500DisclosureThe final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
