Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Software Developer with solid expertise across DevOps, Java/JEE, Spring Boot, cloud computing, microservices, Kubernetes, CI/CD, RPA, AI/ML, Microsoft Power Platform, API integration, testing, and production support.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying, monitoring, testing, and supporting secure, scalable, cloud-based applications and automation solutions. The role requires a strong combination of hands-on software development, DevOps, cloud infrastructure, production support, automation, and integration experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, develop, and administer CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps to support continuous development and deployment of modular cloud-based systems.
- Monitor and assess application performance in Microsoft Azure, identify deployment issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement remediation.
- Automate code integration, testing, deployment, infrastructure management, and recovery processes.
- Design, develop, test, containerize, and deploy solutions using:
- Java/JEE
- Spring Boot/Spring Framework
- Microservices
- Docker
- Kubernetes / Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- REST/SOAP APIs
- SQL/NoSQL databases
- Message queues
- Azure Logic Apps
- Microsoft Power Automate
- React/Angular
- Integrate applications and enterprise systems through REST/SOAP APIs and other integration endpoints.
- Develop secure and accessible web applications following applicable architectural, security, and WCAG AA standards.
- Create and execute unit, integration, performance, and automation testing.
- Develop application monitoring procedures and support production operations.
- Diagnose production issues, perform incident response and root-cause analysis (RCA), and recommend remediation strategies.
- Optimize application and infrastructure performance, reliability, scalability, and resilience.
- Develop and implement RPA and low-code automation solutions using Power Automate and Logic Apps.
- Apply AI, LLM, Machine Learning, OCR, information extraction, and classification technologies where applicable.
- Prepare Solution Design Documents (SDDs) and technical documentation based on business requirements.
- Document development activities, tasks, timelines, implementation procedures, and operational processes.
- Develop comprehensive technical knowledge-transfer plans and conduct knowledge transfer to technical staff.
- Collaborate with IT, business, and cross-functional teams throughout the SDLC and production support lifecycle.
- Participate in post-incident reviews, continuous improvement initiatives, and process/architecture enhancements.
- Establish effective communication and reporting processes to track deliverables, milestones, issues, and decisions.
Requirements
Mandatory Qualifications & Skills
1. DevOps Experience – 25%
The candidate must demonstrate
- 5+ years of experience setting up development environments and mechanisms using Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, or similar tools.
- 5+ years of experience with build and CI tools including Git, Kubernetes, Maven, and Docker.
- 5+ years of experience with container management and orchestration for:
- Application deployment
- Application scaling/clustering
- Monitoring
- Automated operations
- 5+ years of integration experience building and consuming APIs or other integration endpoints.
- Experience applying industry web, architectural, security standards, and best practices.
- Strong production-support capabilities including incident response, troubleshooting, RCA, remediation, and continuous improvement.
- Strong cloud and infrastructure knowledge covering areas such as Azure/AWS/GCP, networking, security, scalability, and resilience.
- Experience with CI/CD automation and Infrastructure as Code, including technologies such as Terraform and/or Ansible.
2. Java, Web Services & Cloud Computing – 45%
The candidate must demonstrate
- 10+ years of experience designing and developing secure RESTful/SOAP APIs, web services, and microservices using:
- Java/JEE
- Spring Framework / Spring Boot
- SQL/NoSQL databases
- Message queues
- Related enterprise technologies
- Experience developing complex frontend applications using React and/or Angular.

- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining microservices-based backend systems.
- Experience containerizing applications using Docker and deploying/orchestrating them using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).

3. RPA, AI/ML & Microsoft Low-Code – 20%
The candidate must demonstrate
- Knowledge and experience with AI, LLM, and Machine Learning, including technologies/platforms such as:
- Azure Document Intelligence
- Cloud Foundry
- OpenAI
- Cognitive Search
- Similar AI/ML technologies
- Knowledge of OCR, information extraction, and information classification.
- Experience training or configuring AI/ML models based on business requirements.
- 5+ years of experience developing, testing, and implementing complex solutions using Microsoft Power Automate RPA.
- Strong experience with
- Power Automate flows
- Power Automate Desktop flows
- Azure Logic Apps
- Ability to build end-to-end RPA/ML automation solutions.
- Experience integrating automation solutions with other enterprise systems and services.
- Experience preparing Solution Design Documents (SDDs) based on business requirements.
- Ability to plan, document, and execute development tasks.
4. Testing & Reporting – 5%
The candidate must demonstrate
- Experience developing and executing unit, integration, and performance test scenarios.
- Strong hands-on experience with testing tools such as:
- Postman
- ReadyAPI
- SoapUI
- JMeter
- Experience using Power BI to extract information and generate reports for different business purposes.

Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is a Senior Software Developer / DevOps-focused engineer who combines 10+ years of Java enterprise development with strong Azure DevOps, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes/AKS, API integration, cloud, RPA, Power Automate, AI/ML, testing, and production-support experience.
Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate the required years of experience against the mandatory technologies and should be comfortable working onsite in Toronto five days per week.
