Provide direct supervision, leadership, and education to other members of the healthcare team. Acts as a resource and advocate for residents, families, and staff. Promote the values, goals, and philosophy of the Home.WAGE RATE : The starting wage rate is $39.13/hour.Vacancy: We are hiring employees to work on a casual basis to help us fulfill our scheduling needs and fill vacant shifts as they arise. We are offering flexible hours.ResponsibilitiesDevelopment and modification of the plans of care in response to residents’ individualized health care needs and changes in health care status.Liaises with other health care personnel, agencies and families.Maintains good relationships with Medical/Support/Home staff, residents, families and the general public.Supervises all activities on the unit; takes charge as required.Monitors performance and completes performance evaluations for the PSWs and RPNs.Directs, assigns, and evaluates the work of the PSWs.May be in charge of Home as required.



Utilizes leadership skills to identify problems and solve them on the unit.Monitors that care is delivered in accordance with the resident Bill of Rights.Understands quality indicators used by the Home and which indicators are publicly reported; participates in improvement of the indicators and aims for satisfactory results.Orders and ensures nursing supplies and equipment are used properly and efficiently.Actively listens to residents and family concerns and takes appropriate actions to resolve issues in line with Home policies.Conducts unit rounds at the beginning and end of shifts.Processes physician orders and administers medications and treatments in compliance with the policies of the Pharmacy provider, the Home, and the College of Nurses standards. Documents and reports all errors and omissions.Maintains accurate and complete records of nursing observations and care in compliance with legislative requirements and Home policies.Assesses changes in health status and reports changes to the Substitute Decision Maker (SDM) or POA and the interdisciplinary team.Completes health care assessments (RAI-MDS and other assessments)



and develops/updates the plan of care for each resident in collaboration with the resident and/or SDM and the interdisciplinary team.Demonstrates understanding of Ministry of Long-term Care mandatory reporting and critical incidents and follows Home policies.Other duties as assigned and/or indicated in the Job Task Inventory.QualificationsCurrent Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse or as a RN registered with a regulatory authority in another Canadian jurisdiction, with the equivalent of a certificate of registration authorizing independent practice in Ontario as per Bill 60.Basic CPR.Experience in long-term care is an asset.Ability to work with and relate to interdisciplinary team members.Well-developed written and oral communication skills.Knowledge of RAI-MDS – AIS certified; if not, must complete successfully within one year of hire.Demonstrates focus on people’s feelings when interacting and turning tasks into positive social interaction.Ability to undertake and meet legal requirements while promoting individuals’ rights and mitigating risk.Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.As a condition of employment, candidates must submit documented results of TB testing (within six months or within 14 days of hire) or a chest X-ray (within the last year), as per Public Health requirements.Two supervisory references required.What we offerCompetitive wagesSupport for personal and skilled growth#J-18808-Ljbffr
