The mission and primary focus of Pharmacy Department is the provision of Pharmaceutical Care which encompasses direct patient care, education and research.Pharmacy Services include drug supply chain and distribution, drug use control and drug information, evaluation and leadership regarding the medication system being supportive of the provision of Pharmaceutical Care.As an integral member of the Hospital leadership and patient care team, the primary role of the Senior Director Pharmacy include: providing exemplary leadership and strategic management for the Pharmacy program; ensuring excellence in the provision of patient care, the achievement of corporate/program objectives and the creation of a healthy workplace that maximizes the potential of all who work; performs planningand strategic operations responsibilities; performing quality management responsibilities; participating in special projects, corporate/research initiatives and other activities that support and advance Unity Health Toronto (UHT) goals.The Senior Director Pharmacy will be responsible for pharmaceutical operations across a multi-sited program that delivers a common service across multiple locations within UHT.Strategic Leadership & OperationsLead pharmacy operations, medication management, and service delivery aligned with organizational prioritiesDevelop and execute long-term strategies to improve patient experience, safety, and outcomesDrive program planning, service redesign, and quality improvement initiativesCollaborate with clinical, medical, and administrative leaders to achieve program and organization/corporate objectivesFoster innovation, best practices, and continuous operational efficiencyProgram Planning & DevelopmentSet and monitor program goals aligned with hospital strategy and future direction; monitors and reports onresults, in a timely manner; Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and professional standards with the Ontario College of Pharmacists, including: annual and ad hoc credentialreviews,



responding to regulatory or practice changes; collaborating with Pharmacy Managers, Practice Leaders, Clinical Pharmacy Specialist/Leaders and Clinical Pharmacists to advance pharmacy practice, in consultation and collaboration with other Professional Practice; Evaluate care delivery models and implement new, team-based approachesBuild partnerships to enhance care delivery and organizational effectivenessDevelop, manage, and monitor operating and capital budgetsAnalyze financial performance and address variancesOptimize resource utilization, including workforce and clinical resourcesPrepare financial reports to support decision-makingQuality, Service & Stakeholder EngagementChampion quality improvement, patient safety, and service excellenceBuild and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholdersLead or participate in committees, projects, and organizational initiativesPromote adoption of new technologies and best practicesEducation & Academic LeadershipOversee Pharmacy Residency Program and ensure adherence to accreditation standards of the Canadian Hospital Pharmacy Residency Board (CPRB)Support teaching, mentorship, and professional development initiativesCollaborate with academic institutions and professional organizationsMaintain ongoing personal and skilled developmentLead recruitment, performance management, and staff developmentFoster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team environmentEnsure staff practice meets professional standards and regulatory requirementsProvide coaching, mentorship, and leadership to managers and staffSupport continuous learning, education,



and career developmentAll staff are expected to carry out their assigned duties and responsibilities in a manner which prioritizes patient and employee safety and confidentiality. Key accountabilities in this regard include:Strict compliance with patient/employee confidentiality practices and policiesStrict compliance with patient/employee safety practices and standards.Appropriate identification, reporting and response to patient/employee confidentiality breaches in accordance with established policies and proceduresAppropriate identification, reporting and response to patient/employee safety risks and incidents/events in accordance with established policies and procedures.Qualifications:Completion of a recognized post baccalaureate degree; Doctor of Pharmacy or Master in Pharmacy degree strongly preferred; Current registration and good standing with Ontario College of Pharmacist in Part ACurrent membership to Canadian Society of Hospital PharmacistsAt least eight (8) years pharmacy clinical or management leadership experienceKnowledgeable about new clinical technologies and information management systemsHighly developed skills in critical thinking, synthesis, decision making and creative evidenced based problem solving in a complex, interprofessional, integrated environment required; Superior expertisein Canadian health systems, hospital pharmacy practice/pharmaceutical care, pharmacy experiential education and research, integrated medication systems, medication safety and quality.Excellent administrative leadership, change management and project management skills, as well as written and verbal communication required; Detail oriented with excellent analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs and develop integrated/creative solutions required; Ability to multitask with a high degree of focus and to work with tight timelines required; Ability to usea high level of initiative and work in a self-direction manner required.Salary Range:$88.90 - $111.12#J-18808-Ljbffr
