Project Engineer – Generation Engineering

- Pay Rate: $98.50/hour, depending on experience
- Contract Length: 52 weeks
- Location: Burnaby, British Columbia / Hybrid (Minimum 3 days per week in office)

Raise is currently hiring a Project Engineer – Generation Engineering on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to support major infrastructure and generation projects, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.

Our client is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada.

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description

The Specialist Project Engineer will join the Project Engineering team within Generation Engineering and play an integral role in the delivery of infrastructure projects. This position will manage the engineering components of large and technically complex projects, including scope, schedule, cost, technical risks, and engineering resources.

The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, engineering teams, construction and contract management, quality management, field operations, external consultants, and equipment vendors. Projects may include recent generating units, powerhouse reconstruction, major plant or unit upgrades, Dam Safety projects, and spillway upgrades.

The role may also serve as the Owner’s Engineer Lead, coordinating internal review and acceptance of engineering work completed by third-party consultants or equipment vendors. Travel to facilities throughout British Columbia may be required,



with occasional travel to other parts of North America or internationally.

Qualifications

- Minimum 10 years of progressive engineering experience, including significant experience in generation engineering and the electrical utility industry.
- Minimum 4 years leading multi-discipline engineering/design teams on medium to large projects.
- Strong experience with hydroelectric power plants, dams, generation systems, and major infrastructure projects, including project lifecycle experience from design through commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of project management, technical risk, scope, schedule, cost, quality, and resource management.
- Experience reviewing and coordinating engineering work performed by external consultants/vendors, including Owner’s Engineer experience, is an asset.
- Excellent leadership, communication, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex technical matters to senior management.
- Familiarity with CAD, engineering design/analysis software, and Microsoft Office.
- Class 5 BC driver's license required.
- Education and Certifications
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering; Electrical or Mechanical preferred.




- Registered or eligible for immediate registration as a P. Eng. with EGBC, with a valid Permit to Practice required.
- Nice-to-Have Assets
- Experience with project delivery processes and engineering practices.
- Site experience with hydroelectric stations, dams, or transmission substations.
- Experience managing engineering consultant contracts.
- Experience coaching or mentoring engineering professionals.
- Familiarity with Digital Sign and Seal Technology / Notarius.

Additional Information

- This is a hybrid position based in Burnaby, BC, with a minimum of three (3) days per week required in the office.
- The role may require travel to facilities throughout British Columbia.
- Occasional travel to other parts of North America and internationally may be required.
- This is a Safety Sensitive and Security Sensitive Position.
- Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
- Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network
