Unipac is looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Accounts Associate to join our Edmonton team.

This is a hands-on accounting position covering both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. We are looking for someone with previous accounting experience who is organized, accurate, comfortable with technology and able to manage day-to-day accounting responsibilities with close attention to detail.

The position is full-time and on-site at our Edmonton office.

The Role

As an Accounts Associate, you will be responsible for day-to-day Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities, including invoicing, processing payments, collections, supplier invoices and account reconciliations.

Unipac uses Rootstock ERP for its accounting and business operations. Our Accounts Payable processes are also supported by AI-based automation tools. You will work with these systems to review transactions, address exceptions and handle items that are escalated for attention.

You don't need to be a technology expert, but you should be comfortable learning and working with new systems and tools.

What You'll Be Doing

- Manage day-to-day Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions
- Process and review supplier invoices
- Prepare and issue customer invoices
- Record and apply customer payments accurately
- Process supplier payments
- Monitor outstanding customer accounts and follow up on overdue receivables
- Contact customers by telephone or email regarding collections when required
- Reconcile customer and supplier accounts
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations

- Review transactions processed through automated AP tools
- Investigate and resolve exceptions and items escalated by AI-assisted accounting tools
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of accounting information before processing
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting records
- Enter and maintain accounting information in Rootstock ERP
- Assist with other day-to-day accounting activities as required

What We're Looking For Previous accounting experience is required for this position.

The successful candidate will have:

- Previous hands-on experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Experience with invoicing, payments, collections and reconciliations
- A high level of accuracy and strong attention to detail
- Experience working with accounting software or an ERP system
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Good computer skills and the ability to learn new software
- Comfort working with AI-assisted and automated accounting tools
- The ability to review automated transactions critically rather than simply relying on the system
- Good problem-solving skills when dealing with discrepancies or exceptions
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills

- Explicit and professional communication skills, particularly when dealing with customer collections
- The ability to manage multiple accounting tasks and priorities
- The ability to work independently while also being part of a team

Experience with Rootstock ERP is preferred, but not required. Experience with another accounting or ERP system is acceptable.
