Job ID 10646

Company Description Our client is an established business serving commercial and industrial customers with HVAC equipment, parts, service and system solutions.

Their work extends beyond supplying equipment. Customers rely on knowledgeable people to help them assess repair, replacement and ongoing service needs, understand their options and make practical decisions about system reliability and performance.

Technical knowledge and customer service are closely connected here. For someone who enjoys the commercial side of business but also wants to understand the systems and solutions behind the sale, this is an opportunity to develop both.

Compensation The overall employment package also includes

- Competitive salary
- Comprehensive benefits
- Company pension plan
- Summer hours
- Company and team activities throughout the year

The Opportunity This is a customer-facing sales position focused on replacement HVAC equipment, repair solutions and service agreements.

Some opportunities will grow from existing relationships. Others will require you to develop new business. In either case, the role involves considerably more than preparing a price and waiting for an answer.

You will learn what the customer is trying to address, work with technicians and suppliers where additional expertise is needed, help develop an appropriate solution, prepare the proposal and keep the opportunity moving through completion.

You will also work alongside an experienced team member while developing your technical knowledge, customer relationships and confidence in the role.

You do not necessarily have to arrive knowing every technical detail. You do need the curiosity to learn, the confidence to pursue business and the discipline to follow through.

Position Description

- Building and developing relationships with existing and prospective customers
- Identifying opportunities involving replacement equipment, repairs and service agreements
- Understanding customer requirements and helping develop appropriate solutions
- Working collaboratively with customers, technicians and suppliers
- Preparing quotations and proposals
- Following up on active sales opportunities
- Remaining involved as opportunities progress through completion
- Developing new business while continuing to support established customer relationships
- Building stronger knowledge of HVAC equipment, applications and service requirements
- Continuing to strengthen your technical and industry knowledge

There is a clear business-development component to the position, but relationships matter. Success will come from being responsive, dependable and credible with customers while consistently identifying and pursuing opportunities. Experience Relevant experience may come from several backgrounds, including

- Sales
- Customer service
- HVAC
- Mechanical equipment
- Another related technical or mechanical industry

Direct HVAC sales experience is not an absolute requirement. Transferable commercial or mechanical-industry experience, combined with a genuine willingness to develop stronger technical knowledge, can also provide a solid foundation for the role.

Qualifications

- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Confidence developing new business
- Good organizational and follow-up habits
- Practical problem-solving ability
- A self-motivated and accountable approach to work
- The ability to communicate comfortably with both customers and technical professionals
- A collaborative approach when working with customers, technicians, suppliers and colleagues
- A genuine willingness to continue building technical knowledge
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
- Experience with ServiceBox or comparable service-management software would be considered an asset.

Education Relevant education may include a trade certificate or post-secondary studies in
- Mechanical engineering
- Mechanical technology
- Business

An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
