The Banquet
Server plays a key in delivering exceptional food and beverage experiences for meetings, conferences, weddings, galas, social events, and catered functions. Through professionalism, attention to detail, and outstanding service, our Banquets team creates memorable experiences while ensuring every event is executed seamlessly from setup to breakdown.
Guest
Service and Event Experience Consistently provide professional, friendly, and engaging service to all guests throughout banquet and catered events. Serve guests in a variety of banquet settings including plated breakfasts, lunches and dinners, buffet service, coffee breaks, working lunches, cocktail receptions, weddings, galas, and off-site catered events. Explain menu offerings and assist guests with dietary restrictions, food allergies, and beverage selections.
Maintain thorough knowledge of banquet menus, beverage offerings, ingredients, preparation methods, and service standards. Food and Beverage Service Execute banquet service according to established sequence of service and luxury hospitality standards. Serve food and beverages with attention to timing, presentation, accuracy, and guest satisfaction.
Monitor guest tables throughout the event, proactively replenishing beverages and clearing finished courses. Clear, reset,
and maintain banquet tables promptly while preserving the appearance of the event space. Refresh buffet presentations, replenish food and beverage items, and ensure displays remain clean, attractive, and fully stocked throughout service.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of banquet stations, service areas, and heart-of-house workspaces. Collaborate closely with Culinary and Stewarding teams to ensure efficient and seamless event execution. Assist with the setup, preparation, and teardown of banquet function rooms according to banquet event orders (BEOs), floor plans, and event specifications.
Arrange tables, chairs, linens, place settings, buffet stations, staging, and service equipment in accordance with hotel standards. Complete opening, closing, and side duties efficiently while maintaining banquet service standards. Ensure all banquet equipment, china, glassware, silverware, linens, and service tools are properly prepared, maintained, and stored.
Monitor event timelines and communicate with Banquet Captains and leadership to ensure smooth execution of all functions. Assist with transporting food, beverages, equipment, and supplies between banquet areas and off-site catering locations when required. Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work environment before, during, and after each event.
Work closely with Banquet Captains, Food & Beverage colleagues, Culinary, Stewarding, Conference Services, and Sales teams to deliver exceptional events. Communicate effectively regarding event timing, menu changes, VIP guests, dietary requirements, and operational updates.
Foster positive working relationships across departments to support successful banquet operations.
Participate in departmental training sessions and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service standards. Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures in accordance with hotel policies and regulatory standards. Adhere to all hotel policies, procedures, banquet service standards, and luxury hospitality expectations.
Previous customer service experience is required; previous banquet, catering, restaurant, or hotel food and beverage experience is preferred. Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional guest service in a quick-paced hospitality environment. Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain organized during high-volume events.
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Must be available to work variable shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, overnights and holidays. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift in a fast-paced banquet environment.
Frequent lifting, carrying, and transporting of banquet trays, chafing dishes, tables, chairs, linens, glassware, food, beverage items, and service equipment. independently and move heavier banquet equipment with assistance. Ability to bend, reach, twist, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements associated with banquet setup and service. Ability to safely manoeuvre throughout banquet spaces while carrying multiple service items.
Physical stamina and dexterity required to maintain exceptional service standards during large-scale events and extended service periods.
