Reporting to the Project/Mine Superintendent, the Project/Mine Superintendent will oversee the day-to-day tasks associated with underground operations.
He/she will ensure operational efficiency with a constant concern for health, safety and environmental standards, and will see to the application of the Company's policies. Based at the Windfall site, located in the Nord-du-Québec region, he/she will be required to work a schedule of 8 days on, 6 days off. Transportation, lodging and meals provided.
Assist the Project-Mine Superintendent in establishing and maintaining a quality team capable of meeting company requirements
- Perform quality control on construction work
- Plan and make sure you have the materials you need for the work ahead. Supervise,
direct and coordinate the monitoring of construction activities and underground workers
- Work with contractor managers
- Interact with underground contractors to ensure compliance with health and safety, work quality and priorities
- Work closely with the engineering department to establish construction methods
- Identify material, tooling and equipment requirements for underground operations
- Manage conflicts when necessary and manage or assist in the management of disciplinary measures
- Evaluate employee performance, identify training needs and develop strategies for employee development
- Report any situation that could affect the occupational health and safety of personnel or the physical integrity of installations
- Comply at all times with health and safety and environmental policies and rules, and ensure that all staff comply with these rules
- Perform any other tasks related to the Mine Captain position that are relevant to the success of the project.
Experience working with First Nations (an asset)
- Bilingualism (French and English), (an asset). French is the first language at work. A valid class 5 driver's license
- Modular training for mineworkers 1 to 7 and 10. Technical skills Knowledge of occupational health and safety laws and regulations specific to mining, as well as mining and ground control methods
- Know the equipment and materials to be used in mines
- Knowledge of supervision formulas
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, etc.).
