CAMP DIRECTOR

Jack and Pat Kay Centre Camp | Schwartz/Reisman Centre

Come Build Something Special To Apply: Cover Letter and Resume to [email protected] by September 30, 2026

If you are an experienced camp leader who wants the opportunity to lead, grow and put your mark on an incredible Jewish camp community, we want to hear from you. The Jack and Pat Kay Centre Camp is looking for a passionate, experienced and visionary camp leader to lead and grow Centre Camp at the Schwartz/Reisman Centre (SRC).

This is more than running a summer camp. We are looking for someone who wants to build community through camp, someone who can inspire a team, create exceptional experiences for children and families, grow a thriving camp and make Jewish identity, belonging and connection come alive every day.

As Camp Director, SRC, you will own the success of the SRC camp, its people, programs, culture, enrollment, family experience and operational performance. You will work in close partnership with the Camp Director at our Prosserman JCC campus to build one strong Centre Camp across two campuses, aligned in vision, quality and culture while ensuring SRC reflects and responds to its unique community.

The Opportunity

Centre Camp is the largest Jewish day camp in Canada, welcoming more than 1,000 campers and 300 staff across our two campuses each summer.

At SRC, there is an exciting opportunity to build on a robust foundation and take the camp to its next level.

You will have the opportunity to:

- Lead and grow SRC Centre Camp, driving enrollment, retention, program quality and family engagement.
- Create an exceptional Jewish camp experience where children have fun, build friendships and develop a meaningful sense of identity, belonging and community.
- Build and inspire an outstanding team, recruiting, developing and retaining talented full-time and seasonal staff and creating a culture where people want to return year after year.
- Own the camper and family experience, building strong relationships and ensuring families feel connected to camp, SRC and the broader JCC community.
- Drive program innovation, bringing new ideas, emerging trends and best practices in camping, youth development, Jewish identity and inclusion into the camp experience.
- Own the business and operations of the SRC site, including budget, staffing, safety,

compliance, facilities and operational readiness.
- Build year-round engagement, creating opportunities for camp families and staff to remain connected to the JCC beyond the summer.
- Partner closely with the Prosserman Camp Director, sharing ideas, resources and best practices and ensuring consistent standards and a robust Centre Camp identity across both campuses.

What Success Looks Like

You will be accountable for building a camp that grows year over year while maintaining an exceptional experience for campers, families and staff.

Success means

- More children choose Centre Camp and return year after year.
- Families who feel known, connected and excited to be part of the community.
- Exceptional programs that children cannot wait to come back to.
- A solid, engaged and returning staff team with a clear leadership pipeline.
- A culture where Jewish identity, inclusion and belonging are embedded in the everyday camp experience.
- Strong financial and operational performance.
- One Centre Camp team works collaboratively across two campuses.

Who You Are

You are a camp person at heart. You understand the magic that happens when great people, thoughtful programming and a strong sense of community come together. You are equally comfortable developing a vision, coaching a leadership team, talking with a parent, reviewing a budget or jumping into the middle of camp when something needs to get done.

You bring

- At least 5 years of progressive camp leadership experience, ideally in a camp of similar size and complexity, including significant experience leading and developing staff.
- A demonstrated ability to build, inspire and hold accountable high-performing teams.
- Strong knowledge of camp standards, health and safety, risk management and emergency response.
- Experience creating genuinely inclusive environments for campers and staff with diverse abilities and needs.
- Strong business and financial acumen,

including experience managing a significant operating budget.
- A track record of managing complex operations while never losing sight of the camper and family experience.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of Jewish values, traditions and Israel, and an ability to bring Jewish identity to life through meaningful, engaging experiences.
- Experience in a JCC, community or not-for-profit environment is an asset.

Most importantly, you love working with children, teens and young adults, believe deeply in the power of camp, and are excited by the opportunity to use fun, relationships and unforgettable experiences to build Jewish community.
