Community Housing Support Worker Location: Nanaimo Position Type: Part Time - Live In Schedule: Thursday (8 am - 8 am) Wage: $536.29 - $569.94 per diem Why Join Us At Bonaventure Support Services, we believe every person deserves to live with dignity, independence, and inclusion. This role is about more than daily living—it’s about creating opportunities for connection, growth, and belonging.
Working under the guidance of the Program Manager and alongside a supportive team, you’ll play an essential role in helping people achieve their goals, participate fully in community life, and build meaningful relationships. The Role - Support adults with daily living activities including health, nutrition, recreation, personal care, and community participation - Assist with developing life skills that promote dignity, independence, and quality of life - Apply positive behavioral strategies and crisis intervention techniques, recognizing behavior as communication - Collaborate with families, community partners (MCFD, CLBC, VIHA, Behavior Consultants, etc.),
and your team to provide holistic care - Ensure health, safety, and wellbeing are always maintained - Build strong, respectful relationships with the people you support, their families, and your colleagues What You Bring - Diploma or Degree in Social Services, Community Support Work, or equivalent experience - Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills - Experience supporting individuals with diverse abilities (preferred) - Ability to work independently and remain calm in high-stress situations - Personal suitability to foster dignity, independence, and individuality Requirements - Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License, and personal vehicle.
- RCMP Criminal Record Check & MCFD Hub Screening (employer facilitated).
- First Aid with CPR, Food Secure Level 1.
- 3 reference letters (including one from your most recent employer).
- Immunization record, TB Screen, and Physician’s Declaration.
