Job Title: Correctional Peace Officer (CPO) - Wage Ministry: Public Safety and Emergency Services Full or Part-Time: Wage (On-Call/Casual) Hours of Work: Varying hours per week (No guarantee of hours, as shifts will be assigned based on operational needs) Permanent/Temporary/Wage: Wage Classification: Correctional Peace Officer 1 Salary: $30.47 per hour to $37.65 per hour The Public Safety and Emergency Services is responsible for all provincial correctional and remand centers, young offender programs and community corrections across the province. In Alberta, the Correctional Services division oversees youth who are serving a sentence in a youth custody facility and sentenced to community sentences. The division also works with other areas of government to provide programs to support youths' personal development including: housing Youth in corrections are between the ages of 12 and 17 who have been accused or found guilty of breaking the law.

While a youth is serving their sentence, they are provided with programs and support to help promote positive behavior change and reintegration into the community. Centre is seeking motivated, community-minded Correctional Peace Officers who are passionate about working directly with youth in a dynamic, supportive, and fast-paced environment. Unlike traditional correctional settings,



this unique role provides the opportunity to build positive relationships with young people while promoting accountability, skill development, and community safety. As a Correctional Peace Officer at the Calgary Youth Attendance Centre, you will: Supervise and support youth participating in court-ordered community programs.

Conduct curfew compliance checks in the community. Supervise youth completing community work service placements. Support educational and recreational programming designed to promote positive change. Work collaboratively with probation officers and community partners.

Encourage accountability, healthy decision-making, and pro-social behaviour while maintaining a safe environment. Community-based work with youth rather than a traditional custodial workplace. Meaningful opportunities to mentor and positively influence young people.
