JOB SUMMARY The Cultivation Lead lives and breathes documentation, sanitation, and clean plants. This is a working lead position, not a management role. You'll take the cultivation schedules and processes set by the Master Grower and make sure they're executed on the floor, fully documented, and in compliance with GACP standards.
You'll be the person who trains and mentors the team on how we do things and why — and the person who notices when something in a room, a record, or a plant isn't right.
The Cultivation Lead’s days will be spent in the grow rooms, on the plants, and in the batch records. Sanitation, documentation, and integrated pest management are the top priorities of this role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Cultivation Support
- Carry out the IPM program: scouting, sticky card counts, beneficial releases, and approved treatments per schedule
- Keep detailed scouting and treatment records and trend pest pressure across rooms
- Identify early signs of pests, disease, and environmental stress and escalate with documentation
- Perform and lead cultivation tasks per the Master Grower's schedule: daily irrigation, cloning, transplanting, pruning, defoliation, trellising, harvest and post harvest.
- Train new and existing team members on cultivation techniques, sanitation procedures, GACP documentation practices, and SOPs
- Mentor technicians on plant handling, record-keeping, and quality mindset; lead by example on the floor
- Help build a positive, respectful, and upbeat working environment within a diverse team.
B. Documentation & Compliance Support
- Ensure compliance with daily cultivation records: batch records, plant counts, room logs, environmental logs, sanitation logs, IPM records, and incident reports
- Ensure every cultivation activity is documented accurately, completely, and on time to GACP standards
- Verify that floor work matches the written schedules, SOPs, and batch instructions from the Master Grower
- Flag and document any deviation, non-conformance,
or process gap immediately and escalate to the Master Grower
C. Operational & Equipment Support
- Monitor cleanliness and organization of cultivation rooms and shared spaces.
- Report equipment issues, maintenance needs, or environmental concerns to the appropriate team.
- Support calibration, maintenance, or validation activities as directed (coordination only).
D. Health, Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Follow all internal SOPs, Health Canada Cannabis Regulations, and site-specific safety requirements.
- Maintain hygiene, PPE, and safety standards within cultivation areas.
- Participate in audits or inspections as requested, in a support capacity.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills
- 2+ years of commercial cannabis cultivation experience in a licensed facility
- Robust working knowledge of GACP requirements and cannabis documentation practices; you understand that if it isn't written down, it didn't happen
- Hands-on experience with sanitation programs and IPM in a controlled-environment grow
- Solid understanding of cannabis plant physiology, training techniques, and plant health indicators
- Proven ability to train others and communicate clearly with people from a wide range of backgrounds
- Meticulous attention to detail and comfort working inside strict written procedures
- Positive, team-first attitude
- Eligible to obtain Health Canada security clearance
- Physically able to lift 50 lb, stand for extended periods, and work in warm, humid conditions
Assets
- Prior QA experience at a licensed cannabis facility
- Experience working under GMP standards
- Experience with seed-to-sale or electronic batch record systems
- RPIC and First Aid certification
Mandatory
- Clean criminal record with no drug-related convictions (RCMP background check required).
- Legal authorization to work in Canada and having security clearance certificate (SCC) from health Canada will be advantageous.
