Neqotkuk Child & Family Services Agency provides programs and services that support the well-being of Wolastoqiyik Neqotkuk. Our culture, language, and teachings are at the centre of our prevention-based approach to supporting the well-being of our children, families, and community.
Position Summary The Custodian is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming Agency facilities. The Custodian ensures offices, common areas, meeting spaces, and other Agency facilities are maintained to an appropriate standard while supporting a professional and comfortable environment for employees, clients, families, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize offices, meeting rooms, common areas, kitchens/break rooms, washrooms, and other Agency spaces.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and clean floors, carpets, furniture, and other surfaces.
- Empty garbage and recycling receptacles and ensure proper disposal of waste.
- Restock washroom, kitchen, and cleaning supplies as required.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, doors, and other high-touch surfaces.
- Maintain cleaning supplies and advise the appropriate Agency representative when supplies need to be replenished.
- Follow appropriate health and safety practices when using cleaning products, chemicals, and equipment.
- Identify and report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, property damage, or other facility concerns.
- Assist with securing Agency facilities, including locking doors, closing windows,
and setting alarms when required.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of Agency employees, clients, families, and information encountered while performing custodial duties.
- Perform other related custodial duties as required based on Agency needs.
General Requirements:
- Previous custodial, janitorial, or commercial cleaning experience is preferred.
- Knowledge and respect for Wolastoqey/Maliseet culture, traditions, values, and the Neqotkuk community.
- Ability to safely use standard cleaning products and custodial equipment.
- Basic knowledge of workplace safety and sanitation practices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Dependable, trustworthy, and able to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to communicate respectfully and professionally with employees, clients, families, and community members.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of custodial work, including standing, bending, lifting, and carrying cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check as required by the Agency.
- Valid Recent Brunswick Driver’s Licence where required for assigned duties.
Work Arrangement:
- Up to 40 hours per week, based on Agency operational needs.
- Work may be scheduled outside of regular office hours.
- Services may be required at various Agency facilities within Neqotkuk.
