Memorial University's Office of Development and Alumni Engagement is seeking an accomplished relationship-builder and fundraising professional to join its dynamic team that plays a vital role in advancing the university's strategic priorities by securing philanthropic support that creates a lasting impact across the institution and beyond.

In this role, you will help achieve Memorial University's fundraising goals through the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of alumni, donors, community leaders, foundations, and corporate partners. You will develop and implement strategic fundraising initiatives that connect supporters with meaningful opportunities to make a difference across the university. You will manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, build trusted relationships, and guide them through the philanthropic journey.

Through thoughtful engagement, strategic planning, and timely stewardship, you will maximize fundraising success while helping donors achieve their philanthropic aspirations. Your work will directly contribute to advancing Memorial University's mission and creating opportunities that benefit students, researchers, and communities for generations to come.

DUTIES

Reporting to the Central Senior Development Officer, the Development Officer’s responsibilities include identifying, cultivating, soliciting,



and stewarding appropriate prospective and active donors; developing and successfully achieving fundraising goals; drafting donor correspondence, gift agreements, briefing notes, proposals, and other written materials as needed; advancing the planning and execution of a coordinated program for donor relations and working with the stewardship team to enhance the relationship between donors and the University; providing status reports; and performing other related duties as required. The successful candidate must be flexible and willing to work non-traditional hours (e.g., evenings and weekends) and travel locally, regionally, and nationally as required.

Qualifications

Experience (3-5 years) in fundraising (preferably in the education, or any other not-for-profit sector) or in business development, relationship management, sales, and/or sponsorship; graduation from a four-year college or university is required; or an equivalent combination of experience may be considered. Persuasive and productive communication, diplomacy, and negotiation skills that allow success both within the campus environment and in the field, the ability to build and maintain productive donor relationships, manage multiple projects from conception to completion within tightly prescribed timelines and with administrative accuracy, and work both independently and within a team are essential. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional judgment, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a strong results-oriented approach.

Demonstrated experience with a CRM or relational database, knowledge of Memorial University and its unique mandate and responsibilities to the province of Newfoundland and Labrador,



and a CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) designation would be considered assets.

SALARY $64,361 - $87,763 per annum (Management and Professional)
