What the job involves
- As our Engineering Director for Core Experience,
you’ll lead the teams responsible for the shared member experiences that connect Super.com’s product verticals
- This organization owns key surfaces and systems including the homepage and discovery experiences, membership management, and the payments and rewards systems that power member value
- It also provides the shared platform capabilities and operational support systems needed to deliver those experiences consistently across Super.com
- Together, these capabilities help members understand and access the value available across the travel, fintech, and earnings products, while giving internal teams the tools and workflows needed to support the member experience effectively
- This role will report to the VP Engineering and lead a group of Engineering Managers, ensuring strong execution, technical quality, and a cohesive member experience across the platform
- You’ll be a key driver of engineering standards, best practices, and improvements to our product development lifecycle
- While you may occasionally jump into technical details to unblock momentum, your real impact comes from architectural leadership, organizational clarity, and elevating execution across the teams you lead
- Super.com is actively evolving how we build software as AI becomes a core part of the product development lifecycle
- As a Director in this organization, you will play a meaningful role in that transformation
- You will help teams adopt modern AI-enabled engineering practices, rethink how work is designed and executed, and identify opportunities where AI can meaningfully improve both product capabilities and development velocity while maintaining strong architectural and product quality standards
- Our stack includes React on the frontend and Python/Node microservices on the backend
- You’ll also work with GitLab, AWS, Postgres, Redis, Datadog, Amplitude, and Snowflake as you scale our systems and elevate the engineering craft across the org
- About the team:
- Super.com engineering has four full-stack product development focus areas: fintech, travel, earnings, and a Super+ membership program to unite them all
- Our dozens of microservices and event-driven architecture handle thousands of requests and events per second, ingest over 1TB of data per day, and process over $1MM per day in sales, leveraging state of the art infrastructure
- We have more than 100 contributors to our codebase with highly skilled engineers across our teams. We work in close partnership with Product Managers, Designers, and QA in an agile/scrum, fast-paced, scaleup environment (that respects work/life balance)
- We focus on driving business value through ambitious technical achievement,
and place a huge emphasis on providing the structure to fast-track our team members' growth
- What you’ll be working on:
- Own the technical strategy and delivery for the Core Experience organization, ensuring we’re building the systems and experiences that help members engage with the platform, discover value, and access membership benefits across Super.com
- Lead and develop Engineering Managers and their teams, providing coaching, clearing technical and organizational blockers, and driving solid performance across the organization
- Own the engineering systems behind Super+ membership value, including benefits, rewards, and credits that power member experiences across product verticals
- Lead development of key engagement and discovery surfaces, including the Super.com homepage and related experiences that help members explore the platform
- Build and evolve the membership management platform, enabling members to manage their membership, benefits, and value across the Super ecosystem
- Develop and scale the systems that power benefits and credits, ensuring they can support new membership offerings and experiences as the platform grows
- Provide the shared platform capabilities that allow these experiences to operate consistently across product verticals, while reducing duplication and improving delivery speed across teams
- Support the systems and workflows that enable customer operations and service teams to deliver a smooth and effective member experience
- Enable personalized discovery and cross-sell experiences across Super.com products in partnership with Product, Design, and Data teams
- Help drive the organization’s adoption of contemporary AI enabled engineering practices. This includes evolving development workflows, enabling teams to use AI effectively across design, implementation, and testing, and identifying opportunities where AI can unlock new product capabilities
- Ensure work is distributed effectively across teams and that collaboration with vertical product teams is clear and efficient
- Guide architecture and system design decisions, raising the technical bar and ensuring systems scale reliably
- Shape the organizational structure, hiring plans, and talent strategy for the Core Experience engineering group
- Continuously improve the product development lifecycle, balancing velocity with long-term system sustainability
- Contribute to cross-vertical engineering initiatives including architecture standards, guild leadership, and engineering best practices
- Jump into technical discussions or code when it’s the fastest path to clarity or impact
