Position Title: Early Childhood Educator ( Temporary Full Time position and On-Call Positions)
Reports to: Early Childhood Department Manager
Position Location: S’iwesá:ylhem Childcare Centre, Chilliwack BC
Salary: $24.31 - $29.03 per hour
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, with flexible shifts (18 Month Term)
Start Date: September 2026-July 2028

Join our dynamic team as an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) and help create a safe, caring, and inspiring environment where children can thrive. We are currently hiring for one temporary ECE position for a term of up to 18 months, from September 2026 to July 2028. We are also accepting applications from qualified ECEs interested in joining our on-call pool.
Reporting to the Early Childhood Department Manager, you’ll play a key role in supporting multiple classrooms, bringing flexibility, creativity, and heart to everything you do. From planning and delivering engaging, inclusive activities to building strong connections with children and families, you’ll be part of a team that’s shaping the future—one child at a time. · Assists in developing daily program schedules that include indoor/outdoor, active/quiet, and individual and group activities that meet programming standards.
· Assists in maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment.
· Provide flexible scheduling to cover shifts as needed, ensuring consistent support and assistance in various classrooms.
· Prepare morning and afternoon snacks for children,
following established guidelines for nutrition and dietary restrictions.
· Assist with cleaning up after snack and lunch times, maintaining a clean and organized environment for children.
· Handle laundry responsibilities, including washing and folding children's clothing and bedding.
· Act as an extra pair of hands, offering support to staff and children in different classrooms as required.
· Promote and support traditional cultural teachings and practices for children and families.
· Supporting the individual needs for the children, including personal hygiene, feeding, and diapering. Foster positive interactions and promote social emotional development.
· Administers first aid and medication in accordance with Centre policy and procedures and licensing regulations.
· Reports on progress, behaviours, and other issues related to children. Contributes to reports for children moving onto elementary school. Maintains required records and statistics.
· Ensures all accidents / incidents are recorded and reported in a timely manner to the Child Care Manager.
· Performs other job-related duties as directed.
Required Education and Experience
· Early Childhood Educator Certificate or Diploma is preferred.
· Minimum of 1 year of recent experience within a licensed childcare setting
· BC License to practice as an Early Childhood Educator (ECE).
· Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
· Valid First Aid Certificate.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Sound understanding of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
· Ability to engage with children in age-appropriate activities that stimulate learning and development.
· Demonstrated evidence of strong communication skills (verbal, written and electronic formats and ability to work as part of team with colleagues, parents and children.
· Strong problem solving and organizational skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision Be creative and positive with a can-do attitude.
· Be mature, responsible, and dependable.
· Be flexible to work full time (8hrs).
· Complete ongoing professional development and maintain ECE certificate.
Working Conditions
· Primarily work is performed in the Child Care Centre.
· Immunization Declaration.
· Interacting with members, including children, elders, and parents.
