The Opportunity: Environmental Management System Coordinator

Permanent, Full-Time bargaining unit position, based out of Whitehorse, Yukon.

Compensation: Level 10: $54.13-$64.64 per hour PLUS northern allowances.

Looking for meaningful environmental work with the opportunity to influence how a utility operates across the Yukon? Yukon Energy is hiring an Environmental Management System Coordinator to lead our Environmental Management System (EMS) and support environmental compliance, sustainability, climate change adaptation, and environmental programs across the Corporation.

This role combines environmental expertise, regulatory compliance, project management, and field work, with the opportunity to work across the organization and help shape how Yukon Energy manages its environmental responsibilities.

What will you do: As a key member of the Risk & Compliance team, you will:

- Lead and maintain Yukon Energy’s Environmental Management System, ensuring alignment with ISO 14001 standards and environmental regulatory requirements.
- Develop and manage environmental policies, programs, compliance systems, and initiatives including climate change adaptation, sustainability, spill response, and environmental risk mitigation.
- Lead environmental inspections, audits, incident investigations, assessments, and projects, ensuring risks and corrective actions are identified and addressed.
- Provide environmental guidance across the organization and work with First Nations, regulators, contractors, and other stakeholders to support responsible operations and projects.

What you need to succeed:

- A post-secondary degree in environmental studies,



natural or social sciences, or a related field, with considerable relevant experience.
- Experience supporting or leading an Environmental Management System, with strong knowledge of ISO 14001.
- Experience with environmental management, compliance, resource management, effects assessment, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong project management, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Robust written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external stakeholders.
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license.

What would be an asset:

- ISO 14001 Internal Auditor certification.
- Experience with Yukon environmental and regulatory regimes.
- Experience working with First Nations and an understanding of First Nations governance and Final Agreements.
- Experience with climate change adaptation, sustainability, remediation, or environmental and socio-economic impact assessment.
- Experience managing environmental projects and operational budgets.

Compensation: Level 10: $54.13-$64.64 per hour PLUS northern allowances. What is in it for you:
