- Cardiovascular Technician diploma/ CardioPulmonary Technologist / Registered Respiratory Therapist Diploma (or equivalent) with active registration and membership in positive standing applicable registering body (e.g., CSCT)
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of cardiopulmonary function as it relates to the various diagnostic testing
- Demonstrates ECG interpretation skills.
- Minimum one year recent experience in Exercise Stress Testing lab within the last five years, including all aspects of Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary team environment
- Demonstrated effective communication (written and verbal), organization and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated effective problem solving skills, critical thinking and the ability to prioritize in a fast paced clinical environment
- Demonstrated initiative and judgment appropriate for the position
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment and demonstrate behavior consistent with HHS Values Based Code of Conduct
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining and improving individual competence as well as contributing to the education and development of students
- Demonstrated advanced arrhythmia interpretation skills
- Current BLS certification
- Minimum of one year experience in ECG Lab with demonstrated interpretation skills within the last five years considered an asset
Days The Echocardiography Technologist performs Echocardiograms on both inpatients and outpatients. Duties include: performing M-mode, 2-D, Doppler and color flow echocardiograms in accordance with hospital procedure,
including inserting IVs and performing Enhanced studies ; interpreting echocardiograms and documenting pathology; assisting physicians with trans esophageal echocardiograms; performing dobutamine stress echocardiography and recumbent bike stress echocardiography tests; writing preliminary reports for cardiologists interpreting echocardiograms; restocking and cleaning of workspace, providing patient care within scope and other duties as may be assigned.

Article 2.07 and Article 13, PIPSC RT Collective Agreement The Medical Diagnostic Units (MDU) at Hamilton Health Sciences include the MDUs at the Hamilton General Hospital, the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre, the McMaster University Medical Centre, and West Lincoln Memorial Hospital. These are all administered in the Diagnostic Services program with a unified management structure. Specially trained physicians, technicians and technologists provide a range of both In-Patient and Out-Patient diagnostic testing that focuses on Cardiac, Pulmonary, and Neurological issues.
The specific diagnostic tests available are: Electrocardiography (ECG), Holter Monitoring initiation, Stress Exercise Testing, Echocardiography (Echo), Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE), Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT). Electroencephalography (EEG), Electromyography (EMG), Evoked Potentials (EVP) and Peripheral Vascular Testing.
