About the Job:
Operating in a Northern British Columbia mining environment on a two week in/two week out shift rotation, the Exploration Drill Coordinator is an integral part of the Exploration Department at Silvertip. The candidate will be a part of the Coeur Silvertip Exploration Team, both underground and surface, and will work with drilling contractor management and site HSE Team to ensure all drilling activities are planned, executed and communicated across departments with a focus on safety, compliance, cost-management, efficiency and high data quality to support the goals of Coeur Mining.
Responsibilities:
- Be a safety and environmental leader, and champion.
- Work with Exploration Drilling Supervisor to align with company’s policies and procedures as defined by the corporate Drilling Manager.
- Maintain relationships with drilling companies, conduct regular meetings as required.
- Assist with program kick-off meetings to ensure alignment with exploration expectations.
- Scheduling pad construction, restoration, and related logistics with drilling contractors and site teams.
- Track materials and consumables and report amounts to Exploration Drilling Supervisor.
- Drill cost tracking and reporting (CorePlan).
- Assist in optimizing drilling operations by monitoring assets and equipment, and by coordinating the execution of the activities of drilling contractors.
- Ability to observe and report drilling issues to Exploration Drilling Supervisor.
- Liaise with underground mine operations team to build good working relationships and to ensure drill sequencing works with operation plans.
- Additional duties which may be assigned by the Exploration Drilling Supervisor which are appropriate to your skills and experience.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- 2 to 5 Years Experience working on or around Diamond Drills in a production setting (mine) or active exploration project.
- Understand and demonstrate leadership in health, safety and environmental management of drilling operations.
- Experience in operational efficiency and improvements.
- Previous experience with underground, surface and helicopter-supported drilling is an asset.
- Have hands-on experience core drilling with an understanding of drilling techniques and equipment.
- Understand drill bits, drilling motors and the relation of the drilling rig circulating system to these tools.
- Have an understanding and ideally hands-on experience with various mud systems.
- Be familiar with cost reporting and verification as it pertains to approval of company expenditures.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with other employees and contractors using tact, courtesy, and valuable judgement.
- Applicants should be able to demonstrate their ability to work and live in Canada indefinitely; a full, valid Canadian Driver’s License is required;
- This role is site-based on a 14-day rotation, 12-hour day basis. It is expected that some communication while on time off be performed.
Additional Information:
- Willing to work a two-week rotation schedule, with 12-hour shifts per day at a remote camp.
- Eligible for Monthly Bonus.
- Our current designated marshalling locations are Vancouver, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Calgary, Edmonton, Whitehorse, Teslin, and Watson Lake.
