Qualifications
MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related study area, including laboratory analysis techniques is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- One year of directly-related experience preferred.
- Experience with installation, retrieval and processing of PRS probes is required.
- Data processing and analysis experience required.
- Journal manuscript preparation experience is required.
- Experience with soil and crop sampling, processing and analysis is required.
- Experience with laboratory analysis of soils for pH, EC and particle size distribution is required.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, required.
- Computer skills with advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, and Origin are required.
- Collection of soil samples using hand probes, required.
- Data analysis using SAS software, required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
Key responsibilities
- Soil sampling: Prepare for,
conduct and post-process soil samples for field and lab studies
- In situ nutrient availability tests: Running greenhouse experiments for nutrient measurement using PRS probes
- Soil analysis: Analysis of samples for pH and electrical conductivity
- Data processing and analysis: Processing and analysis of data using SAS software
- Assistance with technical report writing: Preparing tables and graphs for technical reports and journal manuscripts
- Other duties as requested: Field and laboratory duties as requested by supervisor
