Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Residential Fiberglass Door Stainer to join our finishing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with water-based stain systems and finishing fiberglass entry doors to a consistent, high-quality appearance. This role requires strong attention to detail, colour-matching ability, and pride in producing durable, attractive finishes that meet customer and production standards.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare residential fiberglass doors for staining, including cleaning, sanding, masking, and minor surface touch-ups.

Apply water-based stains, sealers, and clear coats according to approved finishing procedures.

Perform colour matching and ensure consistent stain appearance across doors and components.

Wipe, blend, and finish, stained surfaces to achieve an even wood-grain look.

Inspect finished doors for defects, streaking, adhesion issues, colour variation, or surface imperfections.

Maintain spray equipment, staining tools, workstations, and finishing areas in clean and safe condition.

Follow production schedules, quality standards, and supervisor instructions.

Support general door preparation, handling, packaging, or production tasks as required.

Qualifications

2–5 years of experience staining, finishing, painting, or coating residential doors, fiberglass products, millwork, cabinetry, or similar manufactured components.

Experience with water-based stain systems is prefered

Robust understanding of surface preparation,



stain application, drying times, and topcoat finishing.

Ability to identify colour inconsistencies, finish defects, and quality concerns.

Comfortable using hand tools, sanding equipment, spray equipment, brushes, rags, and related finishing materials.

Good communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Reliable, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods in a production or finishing environment.

Ability to lift, carry, and handle residential door slabs and components as required.

Comfortable working around stains, coatings, finishing equipment, and standard shop conditions while following all safety procedures.

Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment.
