Atkinson Landscaping is adding a new layer of field leadership to support our growing crew operations.
The Field
Manager is a hands-on role responsible for the day-to-day performance of 3–5 crews. This is a year-round position — landscape installation year round, with snow removal in the winter. The role reports to the Operations Manager and works closely with our Schedule Coordinator and Estimator to keep projects running efficiently, on budget, and to a high standard.Approximately 75% of this role's time is spent in the field — pushing production, overseeing quality, and training. They're expected to be self-managed in recognizing where their time is best spent.
Key Responsibilities
- Be available in at the start of the day to help crews load up, talk strategy, and ensure time is being spent effectively
- Check in daily with crews in the field, setting and reinforcing daily goals
- Review and approve the draft daily schedule prepared by the Schedule Coordinator.
- Hold crews accountable to company standards, including clean trucks and well-maintained equipment
- Keep each project's actual hours under budget
- Coach and develop crew members
- Work to minimize rework and callbacks on completed projects
What Success Looks Like
This role is measured primarily on two KPIs:
- Projects completed at or under budgeted hours
- Minimal callbacks on completed work
Qualifications
- Experience in landscaping and hardscaping
- Robust leadership and people-management skills — this is a crew-facing, accountability-driven role
- Comfortable splitting time between hands-on field work and administrative tasks
- No specific certifications or licenses required; relevant experience (e.g., pesticide application, equipment operation) is an asset
Compensation:
$75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
