Responsibilities - Conduct external investigations into fraud, theft, robbery, extortion, bomb threats and other criminal activities - Use investigative tools, technology and strategies to mitigate risk - Comply with production orders and search warrants - Pursue recovery, restitution and/or arrest opportunities - Complete investigative fieldwork, interview witnesses and suspects, maintain evidence and prepare timely case reports - Follow the MasterBond insurance process when applicable - Share 24/7 rotational on-call responsibilities outside business hours - Monitor legislative compliance and provide consultation, technical advice and support for fraud risk management and security programs - Provide advice regarding security, safety and fraud risks and comply with regulatory reporting requirements - Represent the Credit Union in criminal and civil proceedings and testify on its behalf - Assist the Emergency Response Team during branch or regional-office intrusions and stabilize locations after criminal events - Liaise with law enforcement, justice-system agencies, regulatory bodies, and internal and external auditors - Maintain relationships with investigative communities and relevant industry associations - Analyze financial crime trends and control gaps, elevate risk, and recommend mitigation of financial exposure - Support data analytics solutions, fraud detection programs, process efficiencies and improvements - Identify staff learning needs and assist with internal and external financial-crime-prevention training Requirements - Post Secondary Diploma in Business, Finance, Criminology or equivalent required - 3 years in the financial industry with security and audit responsibilities,



or a combination of education and experience required - Demonstrated experience conducting investigations and financial industry operational knowledge preferred - Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills - Ability to interact effectively and build long-term relationships with regulatory bodies, auditors, industry peers and law enforcement agencies - Strong judgement skills and ability to perform detailed work under time constraints and/or pressure while maintaining accuracy - Ability to maintain strict confidentiality - Commitment to self-development and continuous learning - Knowledge of banking programs and systems - Investigative/research, problem-solving, decision-making, interviewing and report writing skills - Working knowledge of the criminal justice system, criminal law and rules of evidence - Proficiency with MS Office and fraud/case management systems, with ability to learn new or enhanced programs - Understanding of risk and risk ownership, including adherence to policies and procedures - Bachelor’s Degree and CFE and/or CFCI preferred Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in conducting investigations related to fraud and financial crime, with strong knowledge of the criminal justice system and regulatory compliance.
