Sqwá First Nation - Graduation Coach / Liaison Facilitator (6-Month Term) Sqwá First Nation is seeking a supportive, organized, and youth-focused Graduation Coach / Liaison Facilitator to work alongside students, families, school-based staff, and the Sqwá Education Department to help students succeed throughout their educational journey.

Reporting to the Education Director , this position will support students from Kindergarten through Grade 12 , with a particular focus on identifying students who may be struggling, coordinating appropriate supports, and helping students in Grades 9-12 remain on a successful path toward graduation.

The successful candidate will build strong relationships with youth and families, collaborate with school-based teams, and advocate for students while providing support that reflects trauma-informed and culturally respectful practices.

Duties And Responsibilities Graduation Coach - Grades 9-12

- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with school-based Graduation Coaches.
- Review student progress and success to date for students in Grades 9-12, including anecdotal information and report cards.
- Determine whether students in Grades 11 and 12 are on a path toward successful graduation.
- Identify students who may require additional academic, social, or other supports to remain on track.
- Bring together school-based Graduation Coaches, other school supports, families, and the Sqwá Education Department to identify strategies and supports for students who are struggling.
- Meet with parents and designated school staff to discuss student progress and determine appropriate next steps.
- Advocate for students and help strengthen communication between students, families, schools, and Sqwá First Nation.

School/Home Liaison Facilitator - Kindergarten to Grade 8

- Meet with counsellors and learning support teachers regarding students from Kindergarten to Grade 8.




- Work collaboratively with school teams to identify students who may be struggling.
- Determine what types of supports may be beneficial to individual students.
- Meet with Sqwá Education staff to determine what resources are available to support students.
- Meet with parents and school-based teams to discuss concerns, available supports, and appropriate next steps.
- Help strengthen communication and collaboration between families, schools, and the Sqwá Education Department.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Education.

Reporting & Collaboration

- Maintain clear communication with the Education Director regarding student needs, progress, and supports.
- Prepare meeting summaries and discuss them with the Education Director during weekly meetings, or more frequently when required.
- Work collaboratively with school-based employees, families, Education Department staff, and other stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

- Grade 12 Diploma; one year of post-secondary education in a relevant area of study is preferred.
- Experience working with youth.
- Demonstrated ability to connect with and build rapport with youth.
- Experience and understanding of trauma-informed and cultural practices and contexts.
- Experience advocating for youth with external stakeholders.
- Experience working within the BC school system.
- Indigenous community knowledge is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work successfully and supportively with school-aged children, families, and school-based employees.




- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to Sqwá First Nation policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of, respect for, and understanding of Stó:lō culture, traditions, and language is considered an asset.
- Experience working within a First Nations community is considered an asset.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, is required.
- Valid Driver's Licence.
- Professional appearance with an outgoing, friendly, and cooperative manner.

Compensation & Work Schedule

- Status: 6-Month Term Contract
- Department: Education
- Hours: 35 hours per week
- Salary: $30.00-$35.00 per hour, depending on experience
- Location: Sqwá First Nation, Chilliwack, BC
- Reports To: Education Director
