We are seeking a motivated and energetic Heavy-Duty Mechanic Apprentice to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have completed a minimum of their Heavy Mechanical Trades Common Core level 1, or the Foundations Program.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop hands-on skills in maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment. As an apprentice, you will work closely with experienced mechanics, gaining valuable knowledge in diagnostic procedures, mechanical repairs, and equipment operation. This paid apprenticeship is designed to build your expertise in heavy equipment maintenance while contributing to the safety and efficiency of our operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist with diagnosing issues on heavy equipment and transport vehicles.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed on equipment.
- Support the repair and replacement of mechanical components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other mechanical tools.
- Gain experience in operating heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, and forklifts under supervision.
- Help interpret technical schematics and manuals to understand machine systems and troubleshooting procedures.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Heavy Mechanical Trades Common Core level 1 or Heavy Mechanical Trades Foundation required. Completion of additional levels an asset.
- Class 1 License or airbrake endorsement an asset.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and prolonged standing or walking.
- Robust communication skills with a positive attitude towards teamwork and customer service.
