Heavy Equipment Operator

Job Type: Full-Time | Seasonal (Potential for Year-Round)

Location: Manitoba Interlake Region | Local Work | No Camp Provided

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and reliable Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will safely operate a variety of heavy equipment while completing earthmoving, excavation, grading, site preparation, material handling, and other construction projects.

This position is based in the Interlake region of Manitoba and is not a remote or camp-based position. Applicants must live locally or within a reasonable commuting distance and must have reliable transportation to and from job sites each day.

The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, maintains equipment responsibly, and works safely in a team environment.

Responsibilities

- Safely operate heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, graders, compactors, rock trucks, and other equipment as required.
- Perform excavation, grading, backfilling, trenching, site preparation, and earthmoving activities.
- Load trucks and move materials efficiently while maintaining productivity.
- Read and follow site plans, grade stakes, and supervisor instructions.
- Complete daily pre-operational and post-operational equipment inspections.
- Perform basic equipment maintenance, including greasing, cleaning, fueling, and fluid checks.
- Identify and report equipment defects or mechanical concerns.
- Work safely around utilities, structures, and other personnel.




- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with general labour duties when required.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment.

Qualifications

- Previous experience operating heavy equipment in the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of safe operating procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-oriented.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence required.
- Must be local to the Interlake region or able to commute reliably to job sites throughout the Interlake.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the job site each working day.
- This is not a fly-in/fly-out, remote, or camp-based position.
- Class 3 or Class 1 driver’s licence is considered an asset.

Preferred Assets
- Experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment.
- Experience in road construction, excavation, utility work, or agricultural projects.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Safety training such as Ground Disturbance, WHMIS, CSTS, or equivalent is considered an asset.
