Job Title: Sr. Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails)

Location: Toronto, ON - Hybrid (4 Days WFO)

Duration: 06-12 Months

Hourly Pay Rate: 50 CAD

Software

Engineer specializing in Ruby on Rails, you will have the opportunity to work on a product with a clear roadmap and long-term vision. You will interact with product management and design teams to influence solutions that meet customer needs.

Your role involves leading the planning, design, development, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of significant portions of the software. You will provide and receive feedback from peers and coach less experienced engineers. The role offers the flexibility and ownership of a startup environment with the job security of being part of one of Canada’s most valuable companies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

- 5 years of experience and a solid understanding of Ruby on Rails, Sidekiq, Redis
- Deep experience with databases and data structures (MySQL or Postgres)
- Experience in Unit/Integration testing
- Experience with ReactJS, Webpack, jQuery/JavaScript/HTML
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong team player with a cooperative approach
- Deep care for application security and understanding of protecting sensitive user data





Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in computer engineering or equivalent training/experience
- Experience with compliance standards, e.g., ISO 27001 or SOC 2
- Experience building apps in a cloud environment (i.e., Docker/Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with AWS services and Terraform
- Experience with Rust
- Knowledge of DevOps tools such as Docker, Github, CircleCI
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like New Relic, Dynatrace, Sumo Logic, Splunk
- Familiarity with Open API specification

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

- Write high-quality, well-tested code while understanding business needs
- Maintain and ensure high-quality software with accountability for production reliability and usage
- Contribute suggestions and new ideas to improve our platform
- Design, code, unit test, and integrate new features as defined by the PO and team
- Participate in code reviews, architectural planning, and delivery meetings
- Update progress daily through tracking tools like Jira or Kanban board
