Overview

This is an opportunity to build a business within a business. The IAS Business Development Manager will establish the national strategy, develop key vendor partnerships, build the sales plan and team, connect with our current technical support resources, and enhance the capabilities of our Canadian branch network.

The Opportunity

Reporting to senior leadership, this new role will shape how CES Canada approaches industrial automation. The successful candidate will combine technical understanding, commercial judgement and entrepreneurial drive to create a scalable business that supports branches, develops new markets and delivers greater value to industrial customers.

LOCATION

Based in British Columbia, Alberta or Ontario

TRAVEL

Regular travel throughout Canada is required

What You Will Build

- Develop and execute a national Industrial Automation Solutions growth strategy.
- Create a clear sales strategy, market plan and scalable team structure.
- Build strategic relationships with automation manufacturers and emerging technology providers.
- Connect vendors, customers, branch teams and CES Canada technical support resources.
- Expand the capability of our branch network to identify, develop and support automation opportunities.
- Position IAS as an exciting, sustainable enhancement to CES Canada’s growing business.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Business Development

- Develop annual and multi-year business plans aligned with company growth objectives.
- Identify and pursue opportunities across key industrial sectors and customer groups.
- Build relationships with manufacturers, system integrators, OEMs, contractors, engineering firms and end users.
- Establish the commercial model, performance measures and priorities needed to grow the division.

Vendor Development

- Identify gaps in our offering and develop strategic vendor partnerships.




- Create joint growth plans with suppliers, including training, product launches, customer development and market activity.
- Manage vendor relationships with a focus on long-term, mutual growth.

Sales Leadership and Team Development

- Design and implement the national IAS sales strategy.
- Recruit, coach and develop future automation specialists and technical sales professionals.
- Provide practical support to branch teams and help turn local opportunities into scalable national growth.

Branch and Technical Integration

- Work closely with the Canadian branch network to identify customers and opportunities.
- Interconnect the IAS division with our current technical support teams and specialist resources.
- Act as the link between customers, vendors, technical teams, sales teams and branch operations.
- Ensure automation becomes a natural extension of the solutions CES Canada provides.

Market Development

- Monitor technology trends, competitive activity and changing customer requirements.
- Develop opportunities in sectors including manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, food and beverage, water and wastewater, utilities, transportation, data centres, renewable energy and process industries.

What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who has the confidence to build from the ground up, communicate with every level of a business and turn a strong idea into a successful national growth platform.

- Five or more years of experience in industrial automation, controls, industrial networking, process automation or a related industrial technology sector.
- Proven success in business development, technical sales, market development or strategic account management.
- Working knowledge of automation technologies such as PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, industrial networking, motor control, drives, motion control, sensors, instrumentation, IIoT and industrial software platforms.
- Solid commercial judgement,



relationship-building skills and financial awareness.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels of a business.
- An entrepreneurial mindset, personal accountability and the drive to build a new division within a growing organization.
- The ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

- Degree or diploma in engineering, electrical, automation, mechatronics, industrial technology, business or a related discipline.
- Experience working with automation manufacturers, integrators, distributors or industrial end users.
- Experience developing supplier relationships, market plans or new business segments.
- Leadership experience, including building or developing sales and technical teams.
